Bad news: I don't want a total recast because plenty of the VO's from the original series can still do the job, and it'd be fun to have that connection. Launchpad got his start on the animated series as an original character, and if he comes back it just feels like McGovern should be playing him, since he basically made the part. Reasonable stance: yeah, I hate to even intimate it, but both Alan Young and June Foray are way up there in years. I'm beyond thrilled they got to do the video game, and it'll feel weird to hear anybody but them in the roles, but this is a matter of practicality. ...totally onboard the "nobody but Jaleel White should be cast as Sonic" train, though.

If Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog was going to be a cartoon acid trip, then I'm glad they got the king of the boogie-woogie in on the act.

Eh, Mike Pollock is the definitive Robotnik/Eggman for me, but back on topic, we'll just have to see how the new DT cast can fill the shoes of their predecessors.

My excitement for this has decreased dramatically with this news. I think now I would've preferred them not to do the reboot. I know, Young and Foray are near the end of their lives, but they were Scrooge and Magica. It's like all those Transformers cartoons with someone else playing Optimus Prime. Or someone other than Jaleel White playing Sonic. Or someone other than Lorenzo Music as Garfield. It just doesn't work for me. I thought Gary Chalk and David Kaye were perfectly servicable Optimuses, especially as they were so warmly recieved coming off the peak of the Beast era They did good work, but to me, it's just kinda weird without Peter Cullen.

True. I'm probably a bit biased towards the Beast crew given it was as much a part of my youth as G1 was a part of my infancy.

Jaleel was WAY too nasally for my tastes. WAY too nasally... He can still do the old voice as that fan film proved, but I think his current normal tone would be perfect for the modern Sonic. Also, Knuckles is always Dan Green. It's basically the same as his Yami Yugi voice, but I think it works for both characters.

Back in the '90s, though, we got as much of Garry Chalk as Optimus as we'd gotten of Cullen as Optimus at that point. So back then, it may've been a weird transition for a bit, but accepted eventually (and people LOVED Beast Wars/Machines). From 1987-2007, Cullen voiced Optimus Prime a total of zero times. Even after he came back for the movie and video game, he didn't voice the character in a cartoon for a few years. Looking back, yeah......weird that he hasn't always done the voice he'll always be remembered for by even non-cartoon fans. But that comes with Cullen returning to the role in 2007 and doing more TF work nowadays than he'd done for 20 years. ............this thread was about DuckTales earlier, right?

OK, DuckTales and Darkwing getting rebooted series I'm cool with.
But as much as I am a fan of Kim Possible...a reboot this soon? And when the series ended so well with the graduation and Ron mastering his powers and such? I'm not sure on that.
Could be good though, so I'll wait and see.
And back to Darkwing for a moment...can we get the team that worked on the short lived comic series to work on it?

CG? Like, Mickey Mouse Clubhouse level CG? Please, Walt's frozen head, emerge from the hidden icy chambers of WDW and kill us all if that's the angle they take.
A Kim Possible revival gives me reprieve from total anguish though. Just a mention means it's on their minds which is a lot.

Jesus tap-dancing Christ, can we do any sort of animation anymore where it isn't completely CGI?
First you recast the entire voice cast and now THIS?

At the same time, let's not pretend that TV-level Disney animation was anywhere near the quality of the movies. Granted a lot of it depended on which particular studio an episode was sent to (like pretty much every 80s and 90s toon) but there were definitely variances in quality that you don't necessarily get with CG.
Randomly watched an episode of the Timon & Pumbaa cartoon yesterday for the first time since it was on Toon Disney and good Lord, that has to be the nadir of 2D Disney TV animation quality.

On the other hand, it's not like getting Cullen and Welker saved the Bayformer franchise, so..... ??

Eh, I'd be down with a CG Duck Tales. The technology has come a long way. Nick's TMNT show has made me very hopeful for the future of CG cartooning.
I am very fearful of what a 2016 internet will do to Webbigail Vanderquack.

If there's enough effort put into the animation and art direction, it can be hand drawn or CGI or stop-motion for all I care.
I'll reserve judgment until I see actual footage of the characters in action. So long as they don't take the Be Cool Scooby Doo style approach, I'll be happy.
