Bronson is cool because he's actually rapping over tracks with drums again. I still think Dr. Lector is his strongest work, followed by Well Done simply because his flow just sounds so much better when it has drums to play off of, but (save the musical interludes which I could do without) the inspired moments on Mr. Wonderful are enough of a reminder why I check for him in the first place.
But the Earl is fantastic. I think this is the album people wanted when Doris came out. Earl's one of the most outstanding technical rappers on the face of the planet and his new record is a clinic.

Personally, I think Earl is one of the biggest cornballs in the game (same goes for the rest of Odd Future with the exception of Frank Ocean) but I know some of ya'll f*** with him. I think you should give it a shot. Beginning to end, it's really strong. The only Odd Future production on it is Left Brain on AM Radio, which is cool because he's Odd Future's best producer, but the rest of the production was handled by Earl. It really stands apart as it's own beast. Also, have you listened to any Mike G? He and Earl are my favorite in the crew, and he's always been the non-shocking smooth contrast in the group. His Ali tape might be my favorite thing in the Odd Future catalog.

The new Bronson is dope, but I disagree on him sounding better on drum-heavy beats. He's much less precise without drums, which is a given, but that works for rappers with a more dynamic flow like Bronson, Roc Marciano, and Freddie Gibbs in my eyes. Also, a lot of the fun I have listening to Bronson is his ability to rap over some of the most abstract samples Party Supplies and Alchemist have given him. I only listened to the first half of the new Earl, but it was fantastic. Magic knows Black Lives Matter don't sleep on it because of his previous stuff, this one is much more refined and mature without losing too much of the edge that makes OF who they are.

Well deserved on his part. If he didn't outdo GKMC, he at least matched its quality.

You don't think The Marcberg is Roc Marciano's finest project?

You don't think The Marcberg is Roc Marciano's finest project? You don't think Reloaded is his best? Nah, Marcberg was such a stronger, colder record. Reloaded was cool as a whole perhaps, but there's so many great individual stand-out moments on Marcberg that just leave me in awe. I also think Bronson's flow is more dynamic when he has drums to guide hi, otherwise a lot of his work just seems interchangable over any of the beats. I want to hear him do rap, not recite poetry.

This thread made me curious about Bronson, and now Baby Blue's been stuck in my head for the past day or so. I slept on him for way too long. Baby Blue is a solid joint. I heard about AB from a friend of mine who told me all about his wrestling references - MARTY JANETTY etc.. haha. I had the chance to listen to the entire album today and I liked a majority of the work. It's a light listen, production was on point. Some of my fav tracks were: -Brand New Car -Terry -Actin Crazy -Falconry -A Light In The Addict -C.Baby Blue -Galactic Love -The Passage Stand out tracks were: -A City Boy Blues - This just works. Brilliant. Wouldn't mind side projects of just this. Brock back the Jim Morrison/Jimmy Hendrix vibes. -Easy Rider - Legit closed my eyes and pictured myself riding a harley out in Cali. This one struck a chord with me. Here's some additional info on the album Mr. Wonderful. I think it's always beneficial to know who's who behind the scenes (producer/composers, Writers, Mix Engineers etc...) en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mr._Wonderful_(Action_Bronson_album)Also one other thing I wanted to mention On Falconry, Meyhem Lauren first time I've listened to dude and he can spit. He got that biggie flow. I think he is also someone to watch out for as far as the NY hip hop scene goes.

Well deserved on his part. If he didn't outdo GKMC, he at least matched its quality. I was just talking about this with a friend of mine. The only difference was my buddy was surprised Kendrick didn't do bigger numbers than Drake. Hence the following: Consider what your asking tho. Drake / Kendrick. Two completely different animals. Drake is drake... Stayed in his lane for his latest work. Consider it main stream, so it should make big numbers. Drake is already a brand. His name alone sells. Just like when Taylor swift put out 15 seconds of static on iTunes. Her name is a brand and it sells and sells well. However Kendrick went a completely different direction and I respect him for that. He is still developing his brand and is still relatively unknown. I think he did great considering there were no obvious commercial records on his project(although after a few listens you can easily pick out a few radio singles). Kendrick put out an underground record that is becoming a classic and it just so happens its being well received because quality does not lie. Good music is just that... Good music and kendricks album is great! I think kendrick will go platinum. I really believe he is going to be the first to do it since Pac. Maybe not this album(in time?) but his next projects are only going to get bigger and better. I'm talking Pac numbers. Why? Because Kendrick has depth to him. Exactly what Pac had. Same damn spirit. No other rapper has that! Not Drake, not Cole, not Jay Z(look at the position of power he's in. What has he done? Nothing!). Niether Pac or Kendrick were gang bangers - look at Pac's history. It's similar in alot of ways. Only this time around I think Kendrick has the right people around him to keep him from straying into everything Pac fell into. Kendrick has full control of his ego, Pacs ego was out of control a majority of the time. Pac was supposed to do big things not only for music, but culturally. Kendrick can now do that. Don't get me wrong, I'm not sitting here praising Kendrick as the next messiah or riding his dick. It ain't about that. Truth be told I wasn't feelin the dude before his last project. Kendrick has surpassed alot of his peers. He has now created his own lane. Can't help but think that kendrick is simply continuing where PAC left off. Bringing social political issues to the forfront, uniting all and really sparking change. I guess you could say I'm pumped because this could become bigger than just music. Anyways, It's a good time to be a hip hop fan. I can only hope that Kendricks new album inspires every other artist to step their game up creatively. Who doesn't want to see old Kanye, Snoop, Nas etc... and DRE. I can only hope that Dre is paying attention to what is going on with Kendrick and thinking that hell if they love Kendricks album so much wait until they hear detox. Give him the confidence to know that whatever dre puts out is going to be well received. I remember discussing how whack dre's verses were on Kush? Imagine what a dre album could be with kendrick writing for dre? Kendricks rhymes are timeless. They can be rapped by an older artist like dre or a young guy like himself. There is no time factor in anything that Kendrick spits and thats what makes his game so undateable. I think he will be the top contributing factor behind detox and I'm calling it now. We will see Detox within the next 2 years.

This thread made me curious about Bronson, and now Baby Blue's been stuck in my head for the past day or so. I slept on him for way too long. I'd say pick up his free 2011 EP "The Program" (it's 4 tracks long. There's a version with like 8 bonus tracks too, but I can't attest for them as I've never heard them and what makes the EP so good is its brevity). and then get his albums Dr. Lecture and Well Done. 2011 Bronson is Bronson at his best for me. He sounds so nice and more natural over drums: (language warning) www.youtube.com/watch?v=M8QPbp_22dE

Haven't given the Kendrick a full spin yet. What I've heard so far is dope, but I gotta find time to give it a couple of uninterrupted runs
