Sitting here, thinking about who would be cheered unanimously given the same exact push that Roman Reigns is getting and the name that comes to my head is Dean Ambrose.
Arenas would be exploding for this guy. But I don't think you could book him as a credible threat to Lesnar as you could Reigns. Based on the idea that he was the 2nd to last babyface in the Rumble next to Reigns hints to me that he's close to that tier.
He's unique, legitimately funny, likeable, and over as hell. The only other guys in his league that haven't been established as Main Event guys are Ryback and Ziggler. Ryback will never be "the guy" but has a chance to take the Big Show role over once him and other hosses retire. Ziggler, I feel will always be given Billy Gunn treatment but may sneak a Championship run in at some point.
Ambrose, Ziggler, and Ryback are your ascending babyface talents that wouldn't be booed to excess if given a push. Ryback may get Goldberg'd though, lol.

I do have high hopes that Ambrose, Ziggler, and Bryan will all get a chance with the belt during 2015. Granted that might be hot-shotting a bit, but it'd be a fresh change of pace after how it's been lately. As much as I dig Brock.
And of course, Rollins as the heel champ who Ambrose wins the belt from, that would be triumphant.

Vince and Triple H are both clearly fans given the amount of TV and mic time the guy gets, it sucks that they didn't pull the trigger when he was white hot in the fall but longterm Deano will definitely be a major player.

Would the "exact same push" in this case still include needless parity booking, overly-scripted promos, and a heatless, never-ending feud with the Big Show? Because Ambrose would've almost certainly been getting mixed reactions if he'd had to deal with all that. Though admittedly, Ambrose probably wouldn't have suffered as much as Reigns has, partly because he's much better at promos and partly because he wouldn't have gotten nearly as hostile a reaction in Philly for winning the Rumble.

I don't think they're ever going to fully commit to Ambrose. They should really, but I think he's looking at a career of being in a Jericho-ish role of moving up and down the card as needed, and I'm thinking it's mostly because with his history and the various issues with when they tried to go all-in on Jeff Hardy they're not going to take the chance.

He could be the next people's choice after Bryan, definitely. After Reigns gets Dieseled, yep.

Problem with Ambrose is he has been made such a joke of (losing every ppv match and feud he is in since the Shield breakup) that there might not be much of a recovery.

I don't know what it is about Ambrose, but to me he's a lot less interesting when he's not feuding with Seth Rollins

I'll say it again: Had they just had him beat Rollins at HIAC, that would have been his star-making moment, and I think he would've been a huge star.
He'll definitely be a big star for sure, but WWE sure missed the boat on what he could have been.

He already got a Roman Reigns push last year and he's been recovering from it ever since.

I think Ambrose could be the guy. He has that badass "edge" to his character while simultaneously being a pretty boy that can cater to the women/gay fanbase.

Ambrose was white-hot last year. His level of overness was Austin-esque.
So of course they immediately buried him deep so no one would upstage their golden boy.

I think he'll be the next guy... To get the Bryan treatment.

I figure even after the past few months he's had there's still a chance he'll be back up there eventually. Remember when most had given up on Ryback ever getting over again during his time with Axel and then suddenly he reappeared in full feed me more mode and people went 'holy crap!' Granted like Dean he's not nearly as hot as he was around HIAC and SS but still, it's a good recent example of someone who's fallen somewhat can experience a resurgence.

He'll need to start winning again before that's a concern.

We still haven't seen reigns vs ambrose. If reigns flops I could see ambrose winning it at summer slam or wm32.
