Gee! How on earth did the rumor start that Goldust was behind GTV? What wild imaginations people have! There were absolutely no hints that it was Goldust! Also, Phillip's explanation of why the Ultimate Warrior rumors got started isn't really the case. The rumors of a second Ultimate Warrior started well before WCW introduced Renegade and Mean Gene's WCW hotlines. These rumors sprang up after Ultimate Warrior returned to WWE with a smaller physique and different hairstyle. Some fans thought he looked different enough to think it was someone else. The rumor I heard as a kid was the original warrior was working out and popped his arm vien because of his arm bands and died.

11. What's the deal with Vince McMahon and Shawn Michaels? YOU KNOW what I'm talking about. 12. What's the deal with Triple H and Shawn Michaels? YOU KNOW what I'm talking about. 13. What's the deal with Bret Hart and Shawn Michaels...oh, wait. Every time they're in Montreal they hear the fans say "YOU SCREWED BRET"- I guess they DID confirm that one. Never mind. The real deal with Shawn Michaels is that He's a WWE Hall of Famer. He's in his early forties, and currently resides in San Antonio. Thanks for writing!

8. Randy Orton: Purse Pooper Actually Torrie Wildon debunked that one; she deliberately put some of her dogs doodie in the bag of another diva she disliked

Putting your pets crap in someone else's handbag isn't really creative or funny. Actually squatting over a purse and pushing one out yourself takes at least a certain kind of commitment to being completely terrible to somebody

I remember reading a rumour a few years ago saying that the early GTV was actually GDTV, and it was meant to be part of Goldust's new voyeur gimmick before he was released in 1999. But, I don't recall any GTVs segments being called GDTV. I also read that it was meant to be "GlenTV" for Headbanger Thrasher, as his new gimmick upon returning from injury, with Mosh becoming Chaz. WWE Magazine might have said something about Goldust being the guy behind GTV too, I seem to recall that. WWE Magazine also ran with the long running rumour (I have the magazine somewhere) that The Rock's Brahma Bull WWE Championship never made it to TV as it was lost in the mail. WWE now say it was never lost and they have it in their warehouse. GTV was originally 'GDTV,' at least for the first appearance. If you followed WWE programming, it was clearly playing out like it was meant to be Goldust. WWE shouldn't act like they don't understand how this rumor got started. If memory serves, a lot of the early GTVs focused on Terri Runnels. In one instance, the GTV suddenly shut-off when Terri was saying something embarrassing about Dustin. Yes, there were also rumors that it was Thrasher. This was because Thrasher had been off TV with an injury and Chaz (formerly Mosh) was being accused of physical abuse by his girlfriend Marianna. Some fans (and I was part of message boards back then) pretty much correctly predicted that Thrasher would return to expose her as a liar. If I recall, Thrasher did expose her of being a liar by showing GTV clips. We thought he would reveal himself as being behind GTV, with the 'G' standing for Glenn, as in his real name Glenn Ruth (since Mosh was now using his real name). So the rumors that GTV was either Goldust or Thrasher were based on trying to make logical sense out of what was shown on GTV. They weren't just wild speculation. Goldust confirmed on Twitter that he was initially the one behind GTV. Plus, I believe GTV started airing before Tom Green was on American television, which means it's highly doubtful unless Russo was super into Canadian public access that he would have seen Green's work.

Wasn't Goldust released around late May-early June 1999, though- which is about the same time the Tom Green show started airing on American television (and would play into the time period, since it was also known Vince Russo [who always did make bad gimmicks that were on the pulse of what was going on in pop culture at the time] was the one who pitched Green as the Plan B?)

Oh, I fully believe Russo pitched Tom Green as the Plan B, I'm moreso pointing out it's pretty disingenuous for WWE to imply that the plan was for it to be Tom Green the whole time.
