Source: Talk Is Jericho
Samoa Joe was Chris Jericho's guest on the latest episode of Talk Is Jericho. While Joe didn't talk about any negotiations with WWE during the interview, Jericho stated that he asked Joe as he was leaving if he has any intention of joining WWE. Joe wanted fans to know that there have been discussions and "there's some negotiations going on."
Jericho noted that Joe's name came up while he was speaking to Triple H a few years ago. Triple H told Jericho that he was a fan of Joe and his wrestling style.
Joe will be in action at tonight's ROH TV taping, where he will face ROH World Tag Team Champion Kyle O'Reilly. He will face Michael Elgin at next week's ROH event at the Frontier Fieldhouse in Chicago Ridge, IL.

Awesome. I haven't really bought any of the rumors yet, but now I can actually allow myself some hope that we'll see Joe in WWE.

Negotiations were brought to the table.
Joe promptly ate those negotiations. And the table.

Joe would be a great fit for NXT. A feud between him and Kevin Steen would be epic. He's only 35, they could get a few years out of him easily.

Joe vs Cena at one of the big 4, you've got to do it WWE.

If anything, people like Rhyno set the precedence that NXT doesn't HAVE to just be rookies, but a general purpose place to reinvent yourself, kind of like what WWECW was right before the shutdown. That's good, since it gives Joe the opportunity to get back in top shape and clear his head, versus the inevitable disappointment if he just went straight to the main roster the way he is now.
Maybe he needs to talk to Goldust.

He trained with him and all, and I recall that "The champ is here!" was apparently some thing between them, with the idea whoever got the big one first would get to use it.

Rather see him in NXT only to build the other guys, similar to Rhyno/Kendrick/Riley

Why would WWE want to sign a fat, unmotivated wrestler who is years past their prime, had years to jump to WWE in the past and turned them down, and has been stealing money from TNA by phoning it in for years? And why is that wrestler in a match against Triple H at Wrestlemania?
Also I don't think signing Samoa Joe is a good idea:

He could actually get a feud with Roman going as well, since he's the only Samoan wrestler in history not to have some connection Anoa'i family.

So let me get this straight
WWE's roster could soon include Neville...Balor....Itami...Ambrose...Cesaro....Ziggler....Bryan....Zayn....Owens....and Samoa Joe.
Holy shit.
Only an idiotic company could waste such a roster...
....oh.

I honestly don't see much of a place for Joe on the main roster-the time for that was a decade ago. At this stage Joe is too old, too out of shape, too beaten up, and has lost so much of his former luster. However, I can easily see Joe as a part timer in NXT, ala Rhyno, who comes in to help groom the rookies. I can even see him having valuable contributions to make as a trainer, being an industry veteran at a young age himself with wide breadth of experience to draw off.

If he comes in lets hope he doesn't end up like Tazz. Tazz was a bad deal off the bat, he had a history of neck issues. Joe's main issue that is he is large as he is round
