For some reason I don't know what this line means Is it saying NXT is going to try and poach top indy performers... as if it doesn't already do that? Or am I missing something even more obvious. I'm having a "brainfart" sort of day today. My apologies in advance. They (Hunter and NXT) are looking at going as a full fledged brand as soon as May (this why calls ups for the NXT 5 are not imminent) and Mike at PWInsider has been saying they are looking at running the same areas and even buildings as companies like ROH, WWNLive and even TNA. It will be splitting the audience of hardcore fans and dividing or even stealing the audience a company has established in the area. For example, say you're an ROH fan in Chicago, and in August ROH is running Chicago Ridge (don't know if that is true all hypothetical) but in July or Sept., NXT will run the same area or building with Sami, Neville, Owens, Balor and say Cesaro and Kidd. That fan is going to have to make a decision on more than likely which show to go to and if NXT is stacked compared to ROH in rebuilding mode as it seems to be entering, well ROH ain't looking too good. EDIT: Also, I took this survey this morning and while they don't mention NJPW or TNA, they do ask about what talent not under an NXT or WWE deal you would like to see brought into NXT. This was more than just an Indie to NXT survey. They also asked about potential venues type, price points, merchandise types and price as well as making these full weekend events instead of just one show and gone.

Would WWE ever move Bryan to be the God on NXT? Would they move the women to be NXT exclusive?
New brand split after all.

Interesting they didn't include New Japan in those options. Though to be fair most of their talent is starting to get up there in years, with a few exceptions. They didn't include TNA either. Neither are indies although there's an increasing case that TNA maybe. In Vince's mind anything that isn't WWE is an independent promotion.

So the plan for NXT is to kill the Indy's and give the WWE a complete monopoly in America. Tremendous. They are already a de facto monopoly. The indies today are barely blips on their radar.

Hey WWE, Stay out of Reseda! I'm torn. I REALLY don't want WWE/NXT to have too much of a widespread influence, but I'm curious to see guys like Tyson Kidd, Alex Riley and Tyler Breeze in the Legion Hall

So is Shane really the one behind all of this? Is he the brain behind hunters operations?
Is it an I side job to make wwe fail in purpose, nxt excell and eventually have hunter take over sooner than later?
Thanks for dropping the inside scoop first.

why the f*** would they want to compete with the indies? well I know why, short term gains, but it's ultimately going to f*** them over in the long run Haven't people been posting for years how WWE would be better if it had competition? Why doesn't that work the other way around? Shouldn't competition also make the indy promotions better? I'm confuzzled.

Even if WWE's scouting the Indies, the "they're trying to destroy the indies!" thing is unlikely, especially if there's more old-school people involved.
WWE knows firsthand that rather than scorching the earth on the super-indies and mid-major promotions, WWE having a product that competes with them without striking a killing blow is far better for the WWE just to give them an easier road to scout.
The WWE COULD kill them, yes- but if you let the super-indies live and merely provide an alternative, then you know what the most popular indies are. This isn't important for the fans of the indies, but IS important since the super-indies have grown to their level by serving as aggregates of the best young talent throughout their region, through the nation- or even in some cases, worldwide. This is a HUGE benefit for the WWE, since if you know the super-indies are going to aggregate the best of the best around the region, then you can primarily hire one scout to scout THAT indy (and thus have their eye on the best available) instead of hiring 50-60 scouts, per region, to make sure you don't leave any VFW hall, rotary, or backyard unturned when scouting independent talent in the hopes that MAYBE, just MAYBE, that opening-card battle royal filled with glorified yardtards who sold tickets to get booked on that show has one guy in the match who has the potential to be a mega-star- instead focusing on the guys who are either at the top of the indies or on the verge of being at the top, expecting when one of those stars on the shindies reveals himself, that mid-major or super-indy will start bringing him in beforehand as he makes his rise.

Oh, cool. So WWE is hell bent on completely killing pro wrestling in North America? It certainly helped the business oh so much when WCW died.
At least we still have Lucha Underground and NJPW.

I think the idea is that WWE might use NXT to compete with independent shows on their level, running NXT shows in established independent markets and venues, like how Vince in the 80s would use his syndicated television to compete with regions' local television wrestling shows for timeslots, running shows in those areas, etc. I await NXT running in The Arena. I drove past that place the other day, and oh boy, the exterior looks nothing like it used to. They reconstructed the entrance so that the triangle entrance is no longer, it's just an entrance door on the side wall. I haven't been inside since early 2009 when ROH started doing the TV tapings, but I'm sure they completely renovated the interior which they've been talking about doing for years.

Yep the Arena now runs boxing events and concerts as well. It's an actual venue and not a bingo hall anymore.
