Those chants were awful although to be honest I'm really surprise they didn't debut Charlotte tonight. WWE should have known what would happen putting that six woman match on the RAW after Mania.

So I did hear chanting, but I was not able to make out he words, so it obviously wasn't that clear.
Tis a shame if those were the chants, but oh well.

The chants were somewhat extreme, but when you market a reality show around your relationship with the poster boys of the company, that's a risk you're gonna deal with. Notice how it only happened with the Total Divas and the AJ one barely lasted, considering her and Punk are not like "LOOK AT US, WE'RE DATING/MARRIED, WATCH IT ON E EVERY SUNDAY", while Paige is dating... Oh... Uh yeah, they're not gonna show that on TD. But to my main point, when you're throwing your relationship into the open like the TDs are, there's gonna be douches that do that. They didn't seem particularly fazed by it anyway. Thankfully so, because it was a good match.

The Bella Twins and other women in the WWE have been called sluts, whores, and other derogatory terms for years now, including on this forum, so I'm not sure how much of the chants were related to Total Divas. Either way, thinking it's okay or justified in some manner is a mentality that I cannot understand. I'm glad there's more people that are bothered by this type of thing than there used to be.

Katie Vick, Eddiesplpoitation, HLA, Vickie Gurerro fat jokes......none of these comepare to the level of embarassment I felt being a wrestling fan last night.

The chants were bad but my God, some of the hyperbole in here. Anyone would think the crowd had started chanting for Hitler.

Do people really view wrestling fans as some sort of moral compass for society? The crowd in attendance last night were likely predominantly male and in their 20's-above. I don't even believe half the people in this thread are being sincere, much less expecting the people in the audience last night to be. Wrestling fans have always been like this and always will, no matter how much fake outrage exists in the new Twitter influenced world. The company itself is run by people who compare a steroid trial to 9/11, and tweet that philanthropy is a marketing scheme hours before paying tribute to a dead child. This isn't exactly a business run by or watched by people I'd expect overly PC behavior from.

What a bunch of crap.

A Post-WM crowd is primarily made up of smarky, snarky, internet-heavy fans; the same fans always complaining about how wrestling needs to be more "progressive" and "representative". And then they chant bullshit like that, which puts us right back at "Do as I say, not as I do".

Saying you were more embarrassed by those chants than you were of Katie Vick (a man simulating sex on a mannequin while wearing a mask) seems unrealistic, if that's what you're asking me. Not saying that's not how you feel, or that you don't have the right to feel that way, but hyperbole can cause people to question sincerity some times. And the Attitude Era and even into the mid-2000's was filled with this sort of crap. Why do you expect wrestling fans to suddenly become feminists and accepting when they' and the company itself have spent 30 years being xenophobic and sexist?

Why do you expect wrestling fans to suddenly become feminists and accepting when they' and the company itself have spent 30 years being xenophobic and sexist? For me its because the "smart" wrestling fans were supposedly the ones supporting the #givedivasachance and complaining about how WWE doesn't respect divas ans only sees them as objects and how the WWE should book the women more like Shimmer. Last night's crowd was supposed to be a crowd entirely made up of "smart" fans and those fans went against everything that "smart" fans were supposedly fighting for. The Divas had a very good match that was given pretty good time. The Bellas have obviously worked their butts off to improve and instead of supporting what was a good divas match between a group of women who all work quite hard the crowd rewarded their efforts with some very offensive and demeaning chants.

Because fans *should* be able to understand where the line is. Not to mention that the Attitude Era is far dead and gone. That isn't an excuse anymore. And while the company (and wrestling in general) have always leaned on xenophobia and on some level, sexism, the industry as a whole has at least attempted to steer away from some of the extremes. Hell, the biggets beef we all have is the WWE going PG, right? And while Katie Vick was awful,it was also within (an albeit stupid) storyline. A bunch of fans chanting a bunch of vile hatred is a completely different thing.

I just think expecting different behavior from the type of fans that were there is unrealistic. If fans do become more progressive over time, it will likely be a process, and the company itself will have to start doing it as well. It won't happen overnight. All I'm saying is, don't be offended by something that shouldn't be all that surprising.

Why do you expect wrestling fans to suddenly become feminists and accepting when they' and the company itself have spent 30 years being xenophobic and sexist? Because, again, a Post-WM crowd (specifically a Post-WM crowd, with all of its international fans and wealthy out-of-town fans) is supposedly made up of the "smarter", "elite" fans who "demand better", and are the ones posting on message boards about how the business needs to be more progressive and diverse, and how Vince is an evil old racist and sexist. And then they decide it's OK to direct sexually-charged derogatory chants at the Bellas (and Naomi) because they don't think they're good enough in the ring. For me, it's the blatant hypocrisy (a fanbase that refuses to live up to the standard that they attack Vince and co. for not having) that bothers me, more than anything.

A bunch of fans chanting a bunch of vile hatred is a completely different thing. Agreed. Just to be clear I'm not excusing the chants or behavior of the fans in attendance last night. It's just when you look at the main demographics of people who watch Raw, I believe a lot of them are still the Attitude Era generation (kids of the 80's, teens of the 90's, etc). A typical Raw crowd would be more respectful, but a crowd full of smarks from an era where last night's chants would be considered tame is not going to be held to the same standard (to me, at least). Wrestling fans should not be expected to be the moral compass of society given the history of the business. The WWE has just started to show more progression with female wrestling, and it took AJ Lee to call them out on it, or a viral hashtag about giving women a chance, before they even considered it. The process will not happen overnight.

After all that, they should have done a "YOU SUCK REIGNS" chant at Reigns.
*Reigns to tag partner* "Are they saying I suck myself?"
Partner: "No, they're just saying you suck."
Reigns: *tear*
