When I saw this pop up I was afraid AJ had retired again and I had missed it. If she does come back I would be shocked if she is not the Diva's champ on her first match.

I would say I missed AJ, but her time was clearly up and through no fault of her own she made the wrestling forums of the world a very wearying place to be (and both her superfans and her superhaters are to blame for that despite what some will tell you, the obsession, the double standards and the general attitude of 'my opinion is fact' worked both ways). She was a wrestler, she was very successful, she wasn't the best talent they've had but she was also far from the worst, she's retired now, that's all that needs to be said yet I'm sure the arguments will rumble on for years to come.

Even trying to be objective about it, I think 'far from the worst' is underselling her quite a bit, especially given wrestling isn't as central to WWE and that was her weakest area relatively. She kept the division from treading water prior to Paige's debut. Though I probably started a fierce debate by stating just that.

I miss her. But then I look at a segment like Monday and figure she's probably better off.

Yeah I know, she was pretty good in the ring by the standards of her time. I thought she routinely had good matches during her first title reign, and even her fans would admit her later work wasn't as good, so people using it as 'proof' she and Paige were overrated all along irked me a little. There's nothing wrong with disliking a performer, but searching for evidence that you're right and nobody should like them is just taking it too far, just accept that you don't like them, other people do, neither of you are 'right' and move on. AJ in particular seemed to bring that 'my opinion is the truth' mentality out in people, that's why she couldn't (and maybe still can't) be discussed without things getting way too heated.
