For those of you who don't know me I am a huge Kevin Owens mark, and have been since his 2011 run in ROH.
I absolutely love his current character, a family man (Kind of) who is an absolute monster who destroys his opponents by any means necessary. What I'm really impressed by with his monster heel character is that it's so different than the typical one because he has more of a personality than "Grr, I'm really tough and I will kill you and rape your face" as well as the fact that he dominates not because he's physically impressive and incredibly powerful, it's just that he's willing to do what ever it takes.
Am I the only one who likes his character this much?

He'll eat your dinner, your family's dinner and then eat you and your family because he can.

This is my first exposure to him and I was hooked from his debut match with Parker. I must have watched it a few times. I still wince when Parker stiff palmed him in the nose.
You hit the nail on the head about his personality. He's a beast, but he's also strategic, as evidenced by how he'll often start matches leaving the ring and making his opponents wait. And his "family man" gimmick is pretty fresh because it's not just someone going for glory. He's doing a job and earning a check. And perhaps now that he's had a taste, he's becoming obsessed, after that segment when he was sitting with his belt in the dark.

I think the character is good for nxt but I couldn't buy him as this bad ass if he was standing eye to eye with Cena. I know there's examples of ass kickers and tough guys that don't look like it, but there's a disconnect there for me.
I think he's tremendous in the ring though and handy on the mic too.

I'm not sure about Owens.
I don't dislike him, but I don't want him to disrupt the idea of "Anyone in NXT who hits a hot streak can earn a title shot!".
I don't mind Owens fending off Neville, Riley, Zayn, or otherwise in hard-fought matches. I don't even mind him capitalizing on Finn's "injury".
But I don't want the narrative of him being dominant to get in Finn's way.

But I don't want the narrative of him being dominant to get in Finn's way. The problem i have is that Owens has run through everyone so who else is there to fight? In Neville's case he gets a call up so it doesn't hurt him too bad. But when does Zayn get his revenge? And does he get to beat Owens or does he lose again so that Owens can continue his "dominance"? And the "monster" thing kind of undermined Riley's comeback; A-Ry needed to step up and show the fans how well he can "work" and because Owens crushed him so decisively, he really didn't get the chance to do that. And he's already beaten Finn.

I keep trying to get in to him but I just don't like him. He's good in the ring. He's a great talker. There's just something about him I don't like. I just can never figure out what it is.

He's a good talker and wrestler, but he's completely unbelievable when/if he makes the jump to WWE. He'll sell t-shirts to the bingo hall kids but to average fans? LOL, nope

Is it the Scott Steiner reason? No, I don't think so. Samoa Joe is one of my favourites so pretty sure that's not it. That said, it might be the sloppy look he has. The black outfit with the duct tape shirt and the sloppy hair and beard just don't feel like a successful wrestler to me. It feels very indy fed. Again, I'm pretty sure I'm wrong about the level of success he'll achieve but I'm pretty sure I won't be cheering him on.
