Personally, I think we underestimate how hard their job actually is. Like, it's easy for us to sit here at our computers and say "I don't like this, I would have done something else". We're just "writing" for ourselves when we say things like that, or when we fantasy book our dream WrestleMania cards. These people in Creative essentially have to write for MILLIONS of people (but most likely, just Vince)... Full shows, word-for-word, seven to ten hours of material a week EVERY WEEK, with a cast of 50-60 characters, some of whom may have the ability to reject it at a moment's notice and throw the whole thing off-kilter. And parts of the fanbase demand that you have something substantial and gratifying for EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THEM. Name ANY OTHER SHOW that has that kind of workload. That's not to say you can't criticise things when they don't work for you. Just offering some perspective. I could write a better RAW in an hour, and as always, if anyone from WWE is reading this PM me and we'll talk turkey. We can't lay the blame solely on Vince, the material they do write is garbage.

Yeah, for a lot of the stuff they put out there its just needlessly convoluted. It is, after all, a wrestling show. The hardest part should be keeping track of who is wrestling when - which could be accomplished with basic notecards on a pinboard. Beyond that they just get too up their own ass with their storylines. They have, arguably, a roster comprised of the best wrestlers in North America, most of whom have developed great wrestling/entertainer instincts and Creative doesn't trust them to use those instincts to put on a show. They have so little faith in their talent, its sad really.

Vince McMahon is the guy who sucks.
The writers are only doing what Vince wants them to do.

The "writers" (read: Vince) have a setup that is not conducive to good writing. A cast of 50 to 60 characters, of whom half a dozen aren't throw away characters, a desire to be "edgy" and "current" with pop culture, yet sanitized enough for the kids and advertisers, with "five hours of fresh TV per week" that involves those same half a dozen "main characters" and maybe another half dozen throw away characters, all with a live commentary team who reinforce the uselessness of all but the half a dozen "main characters".
