These NFL players seem to be getting dumber by the minute, I've never seen anything quite like it.

I know it's easier said than done, but why can't athletes just chill during the offseason? Seasons over, go on vacation with the family. Come back, start training for OTAs and mini-camps, go on one last vacation before training camp starts.

I know it's easier said than done, but why can't athletes just chill during the offseason? Seasons over, go on vacation with the family. Come back, start training for OTAs and mini-camps, go on one last vacation before training camp starts. You can't really expect someone to work hard to achieve very lofty goals (between 21 and 28 often times, the older guys tend to be pretty tame), then give them a bunch of money and a lot of time off and expect them to just stay at home and drink tea. Also, a lot of these guys aren't very smart to begin with. On the Haynesworth topic, it's actually not a terrible read. I do believe he lost his passion both because of the contract and because of Shanny wanting him to do the exact opposite of what he's good at (occupy space instead of penetrating). You don't sign Randy Moss to run 7 yard curls. I like it when we actually get a look at the story behind these athletes that are often punchlines (like Rodman). It's more interesting than the cheap jokes.

I sort of knew much of what Haynesworth was going to say already based on past interviews. He isn't wrong about how he was used in Washington, but he still deserves some of the blame. If you are getting paid like that, find your damned passion, your pride, or just something to motivate you. You don't have to be the world beater you were, but the effort he put in was pathetic. Not only that, but he could not even find his passion playing for Belichick afterwards. Damned near everyone finds something to motivate them playing for him, whether they perform for him or to spite him.
