Oof!

You can't call it a series after the home team wins game 1 in OT. See what Kyrie looks like and go from there.

Warriors will win this in 4 or 5 games, it will depend what happens in game 4 if the Cavs shows some pride in not getting sweept.

Urk. What a disastrous OT for the Cavs after such a beautiful back and forth game. Really feeling for Irving. Played his heart out. ...I'm still totally over the moon, regardless.

And there was the JR Smith I knew and loathed from the Knicks.

This is the tricky predicament you find yourselves when you have to count on Jr Smith. When he's on, he's incredible. But when he's cold, he's Game 7 vs the Rockets John Starks

This is where the Cavs offense hurts the most. JR Smith, Shumpert, and Kyrie aren't consistent enough in my opinion. Other than Lebron they don't have anyone that can spread the floor, provide strong defense, and prevent penetration as well.
Of course it's just one game and I am sure changes will be made. If the Cavs don't find some form of offense in Smith, Shumpert, or Irving they're going to be in trouble.

They didn't get to Shumpert enough, and Dellavedova and Thompson who were bit contributors in the Hawks series were completely invisible tonight on the offensive end. I understand the Kyrie addition, but Dellavedova adds a 3-point threat that Cleveland seemed to be desperately missing in the 2nd half. Thompson seems like a guy they just plum forgot was on the court on the offensive end. He's not a terrible post player, either. And Green seemingly was switching on LeBron with Clay sometimes. They definitely needed to move the ball better, as Van Gundy mentioned a couple times. They didn't run any plays, just clear-outs for LeBron or Kyrie. And if they were well-defended, they just didn't get a good shot off that possession. Versus GS, when in one sequence, they got 4 good looks off.

This game came down to BENCH BENCH BENCH and role players.
Igoudala and Speights were 2 of the heroes tonight. And remember Livingston/Barbosa led them back from 16 down against the Rockets in game 1 of that series. Or Festus Ezeli in the closeout game vs. Houston.
The Warriors bench this year is as great as the Spurs bench last year, minus the gaudy three point shooting percentages.

Kevin Love being injured hurts Cleveland too. It's still one game but others need to step up and actually contribute consistently.
Warriors starting line-up and their bench is proving to be consistent and reliable too.

The Warriors bench is very, very good. But I stop short of comparing it to the Spurs depth last year. There were times where their bench outplayed a better Heat team by a good margin.

Teams like the Warriors and Spurs have the most consistent benches I've ever seen play. Very similar to Sacramento during the Webber and Bibby era, Dallas during the Dirk, Finley, and Nash run era, and even Miami when it was Lebron, Wade, and Bosh.

Very surprised that Kings term never won a ring. Peja, Bobby Jackson, Turk, Vlade, Jason Williams, etc.

Just like with guys like Reggie Miller, Ewing, Barkley, etc. don't have rings. On good as hell teams, but Mike and the Bulls were a force. Shit, Houston's lucky Michael retired for a season or we'd be looking at 8 straight Bulls titles.

There was 1995, nobody was stopping Hakeem, he destroyed David Robinson at his best, and owned Shaq, against the Bulls centers he may have averaged 50 points, 25 boards, and 7 blocks.

I'll give you 95, since I recall Houston being dominate as well the Bulls being a completely different team than Jordan was used too and Jordan himself not at the level he was when he left. Orlando kinda showed them that year too. But 94? If Jordan was going full stop with the same squad that had Horace Grant and John Paxson, I think it'd be close.

Yeah, Van Gundy was right. WAY too much iso play from the Cavs last night. And to be fair, it kept them in the game and Lebron was one missed buzzer beater away from winning a tight one in regulation. But they need to shape it up for Game 2. And I do think the Cavs are capable of winning Game 2, though I'd feel better about that if Kyrie's good to go.
I think this is also where the Cavs really miss Anderson Varejao.
