My bank cancelled my credit card because of some dumb fraud thing, which caused my WWE Network subscription to terminate. I then signed up for a free month and kept watching. Now I'm getting billed again, but I guess WWE doesn't could me a "Day 1" subscriber, which is ass.

This is getting excessive.

Giving people an entire month for free is unnecessary if you're trying to show why they should subscribe to WWE Network. If you only run one PPV a month (excluding NXT specials and the odd "Let's just f***ing have a PPV" shows), what are potential subscribers seeing that they can't see if you give something like a 7 day trial? Giving away an entire month of VOD when it doesn't really get updated all that much is weird to me.

They've essentially adopted a free trial without calling it that, presumably because they won't do it for August, January, or April. Otherwise they could just say free month for new subscribers. But I think they also have this method so people don't register right before a pay-per-view and try to get the other pay-per-view by getting a free "30 days."

I figure once the law of diminishing returns catches up on the free trial months, we will see new subscribers be able to get their first month free from whenever they sign up, with blackout days for free trials occurring 30 days within the Big 3.

It doesn't bother me, the Network is a fantastic service that's a bargain. I'm happy to pay the providers to keep it going.

Speaking as both a paying Network subscriber and a WWE shareholder, these constant free month trial memberships are starting to piss me off.

It says on the website that new subscribers get their first month for free. And as someone who just got an Amazon Fire TV stick, I think its time to give it a shot!

They have to make money on this sooner or later.

They have to make money on this sooner or later. Theoretically, everyone should be getting one free month and that's it, paying for all subsequent months after the trial. Whether that's what actually happening or not is up to debate.

In fact it makes me wonder if a good chunk of the profit they get out of the network is from people that forgot they have it in the first place.

I don't see the issue in offering a month free to new subscribers, it's the exact same business model that works fine for every single other streaming service.
A small number of people might game the system and take advantage of it, but that will always be the case no matter what is done and isn't going to have an impact on the vast majority who would rather just pay the $10 a month than spend time pissing about to get it for free.

I have a question.
I subscribed on July 31. I, basically was getting August free. But I am, for now dropping it because of unforseen circumstances, and I just cancelled the subscription. My notice just said that my subscription will expire on September 30th. Did I just get billed for August even I cancelled the day before I was billed?

I believe you have to cancel two days before expiration. You missed it so they charged you for September.
