Same reason why we got a Sonic commercial with New Day, Big Show, and Mega Powers last week. If the product placement happens during the show, WWE gets the dollars instead of USA. Which is a nice loophole since USA keeps all of the ad revenue due to their contract with WWE. Pretty soon we will have wrestlers sponsored by different things ala NASCAR. I see that but at least the Sonic one incorporated some of the talent into it. This seemed more random as it was just the trailer and a few comments from Cole and JBL. I'm sure it's not the first time but off the top of my head I can't recall them just showing a trailer like that. It's easier creatively to shill food with talent then a movie. We've seen segments in show where a wrestler is talking to someone from the movie shilling the movie and it's usually terrible. The only one I can remember being kind of funny was Miz and Mizdow talking to Kevin Hart and Will Ferrell. And even then I think they showed either a short trailer or a 30 second commercial in show. |
