Not a fan of the series (or really played any of them honestly), but fairly familiar with it due to my brother being a huge fan. And thus I decided to look up the ending. {Spoiler}So, like... the entire purpose of the game is to explain the plot holes surrounding the PSP spinoffs and Big Boss dying repeatedly? Because that's... really dumb. Like, I watched the ending and everything, I don't get at all what having it turn out there are two Big Bosses accomplishes for the plot even with the timeline thing besides giving the Solid / Liquid thing a stupid fate subtext to it for no clear reason.
Also, maybe I just am missing some reason for this one but it's kind of distracting how the talk about all that seems to completely ignore Solidus.

From what I remember, Solidus was created after Les enfants terrible with a quicker aging factor. If you add in the info from MGS2, Solidus was in the Liberian war in the late 80s, which would suspect the Rapid aging kicked in already, whereas Liquid and Solid was still in their teens
