They booked Lesnar like dogshit until the Taker match at Mania and the Summerfest match with Cena, which rebuilt his credibility. The problem with the Triple H feud is by that time, nobody besides Trips and Steph thought that he was on Lesnar's level, let alone for three matches. The same thing happened with Punk somewhat, but was even more pronounced with Lesnar since by that time it had been two years since he was a regular performer.(8 matches in 2 and 1/2 years). They essentially booked him as Rocky coming back to fight Ivan Drago, not understanding that after Rocky IV, nobody gave a shit about Drago, and Trips makes a shitty Rocky.

Triple H didn't ruin Brock's mystique. Brock could job to Mojo Rawley and then come out the next night to kick someone's ass and instantly be a threat again.

All will be right again when Brock Lesnar defeats Kofi Kingston in Japan!

3 of those are about as far from clean as you can get. He didn't even get pinned in one of them and lost to a MITB cash in. One involved a steel chain to the head and an AA on steps. The other involved a sledgehammer to the head and a pedigree on steel steps. Yes, they were legal, but it's not clean. The Rollins one I'll grant you, but HHH and Cena both beat him fair and square within the rules of the matches via pinball. How's that not clean? Especially since HHH took on the gimmick "Pinball Wizard" while doing so.

All I can say is that I think it's hilarious that Cena sold for Brock like a no name jobber and still won, but Hunter clashed with Brock like no one else could and tapped out like a little bitch. Why would you write it that way?

Wrestling is a weird animal where it's entirely possible to retcon on the fly and people can buy into it, if it's convincing enough. Brock has always been a killing machine, and people have always accepted him as a killing machine... so the fact he's presented as exactly that, makes people forgive how he was portrayed any other time in his career regardless of how recent or distant it was. How Brock is portrayed today, his match at WM19 would've been a very short match where he just blew right through Kurt Angle in record time.... Eddy wouldn't have ever had a chance, even with Goldberg's interference. But, the fact he is being put over as Doomsday now, is finally the way people have wanted to see him... fans are buying it, and they are excited to see him just completely dominate and destroy regardless of who he's against.

Triple H is so funny. When he's a face, he's suddenly a physical peer to anyone and everyone, regardless of how ridiculous the gaps in athleticism/strength feats are to his opponent.
When he's a heel, he's the coolest, smartest, most confident badass in every room he's in, and almost never shows vulnerability or outright cowardice (or other faults). It's like he wants to be a combination of David Xanatos and Geese Howard.
His feud with Brock certainly was a thing that happened, much like his feud with Punk that ultimately went nowhere. That he could be portrayed as an equal when he was as outclassed as he was in Every. Single. Category was a hoot.

No, because Brock still has a mystique.

On one hand, I would say he definitely damaged Brock's image. He has done that a lot over the years. There are a lot of guy's who started catching on only to get fed to HHH. Brock was one of them. Fortunately, unlike some of the others, he was given ample opportunities to recover and I did not even remember that they feuded until you mentioned it.

Especially since HHH took on the gimmick "Pinball Wizard" while doing so. Tommy played politics more than anyone. How else does a deaf, dumb, and blind kid become so good at pinball? And nothing could destroy Lesnar's mystique. He has the best combination of physical skill, mental wrestling ability and legit credentials that he's bulletproof.

Him getting beat down by Kane, Seth, and J&J hurt him even more than HHH ever did. (That left a bad taste in my mouth.) I mean, if it had been something like Kane, HHH, Big Show, and Luke Harper or whatever, I could buy that a lot more than what we originally got. Yeah, they took out Brock's leg, so they get the upper hand for a few minutes and then Brock jumps back up and destroys everyone and we're done.
And people say, "They had to make Seth look strong." HE'S NOT SUPPOSED TO LOOK STRONG!! He's fighting Brock Lesnar! He runs like a coward until the PPV where he gets his comeuppance and gets destroyed and everyone goes home and celebrates while wearing their Suplex City shirts and eating Jimmy Johns for dinner.
And the beat down has been a long time coming too. Seth curb stomped Brock and ran away at Night of Champions. Then he was a thorn in his side leading up to and at the Royal Rumble. Then he stole a win and the belt at Wrestlemania. And then he backed out of the title match and ran away through the crowd the night after Wrestlemania. Brock's gonna wreck him. The freakin' End.

Not at all. With Trips it's par for the course for everyone to lose to him eventually

They should reinforce Brock's stair weakness. Like have Brock beating up a bunch of people then one person holds up the stairs and Brock turns white and backs off.
Kinda like how Andre the Giant was scared of Jake's pet.
Maybe have someone dump a bunch of toy stairs out from a bag onto Brock and he flops around selling it like they dumped acid on him.

All the more reason the beat down was perfectly fine, to be honest. The numbers game got the better of him, he then came back and wrecked the car and sent an armed Seth even running for the hills. That many men at once, and it's a momentary setback, and even after it, Seth's terrified of him, and if anything, people want to see him tear Seth limb from limb more than before.

If anything, HHH bungled trying to get the rub from Brock. Even the feeble minds in WWE Creative know better than to bring up the fact that either Cena or Hunter beat him.
