Not only was this kept a secret from almost everyone in TNA, but Jarrett kept all of his own wrestlers and office people in the dark, with the possible exception of Sonjay Dutt. Karen Jarrett, who said she was completely against it because there were some very negative feelings from her toward TNA and Carter, said in her interview that she had talked earlier that day with Dutt about her issues. The deal did almost fall apart beforehand, and nothing was certain, apparently, even after the Jarretts got on the plane to Orlando.
Karen Jarrett said that she considered TNA part of her past and told Jeff not to call them back, not to text them back, because they are past TNA. She said she understood that Jeff and his father (who haven't been on speaking terms for years) started TNA, but also said she still didn't fully understand why they were there. She said that at 11 a.m. that morning, she was on the phone with Dutt, crying her eyes out. She said she didn't know why they would go back. She said Dutt told her that Jeff didn't get to go out the way he wanted. Of course that devolved into storyline, with her saying Jeff had been fired in a backstage pre-tape by Sting, which was how Jeff's career as a wrestler in TNA had ended in storyline. He actually remained with the company until leaving shortly after his attempt with Toby Keith to buy the company in 2013 fell through. Bob Carter was in Norman, OK, where Keith lives, to close the deal, and in real life, Carter's insistence that his daughter have at least a corporate title if it was sold ended up as the deal breaker. In 2014, Keith and Jarrett seemed to be on board to start a company, but Keith ended up pulling out of supporting the group financially. Jeff Jarrett did make sure to mention "My good friend Toby Keith," claiming he was with him a few days earlier. It was an interesting name drop and one would think Jarrett had a reason for why he did so, more than just quoting a line from one of Keith's songs to push his own story in winning King of the Mountain.

TNA had approached ROH a number of times to do similar angles, but after being rebuffed a few months ago, they did not approach them for this one.
I'm sorry, but why would anyone deal with a company that's screwed over both that person and his wife? If Karen is upset that much about dealing with TNA, is it really worth it?
