Sorry, I couldn't resist. I guess it was just needed by him. I prefer superhero stuff, too, but given people getting furious when he asked them to not adblock and basically stealing his content, acting like this was some outrageous request, he pretty much had to do something to keep this as his fulltime job and keep content coming out. I always got the idea that he got heat for encouraging people to click the ads and then close right back out "if they really supported him", which the terms and conditions for YouTube's ad program prohibit encouraging. If it really was just because he wanted people not to use adblock, I mean, that's reasonable of him to expect. Can't blame him for wanting his fair share. Admittedly possible, it's been a while, though I recall some people being petulant about him being for ads in general, almost, which was just silly.

I just remember someone I follow at the time making a big deal about it the day after Linkara made his plea (I've never really cared for Linkara unless what he's reviewing interests me, I don't watch his vids for him), and saying he might get in trouble for that as YouTube's ToS considered encouraging that as 'fraud". But he was one of the first people I recall making a big stink about AdBlock. If he made that vid now, I don't think he'd get so much flack. Though I must admit the "ad" system of making money on YouTube is archaic. Nobody's clicking those with general interest in the product I'm sure, but I have a hard time imagining people sit there and go "What's that? The Toyota Corolla? Who made this video? Vinesauce? Well then gee wiz, I'm DEFINITELY interested in the Toyota Corolla!"

Yeah, those ads aren't the most reliable of income by any means.

He lost me a while ago. I used to watch it but there were quite a number of errors I just couldn't get over. Plus I feel it off for me like the angry review thing. I was on board with HOPR that had ways it could be better and more interesting. But yeah if you still enjoy it power to yeah.

Why do people always act so overdramatic whenever Internet celebrities are involved, between those who feel the need to inform us that they despise one at any opportunity, those who insist to make up drama where none exists and those who act like any perceived dip in quality is a personal loss, if not an affront?

Why do people always act so overdramatic whenever Internet celebrities are involved, between those who feel the need to inform us that they despise one at any opportunity, those who insist to make up drama where none exists and those who act like any perceived dip in quality is a personal loss, if not an affront? I take it this is aimed at me, since I started this thread. I still like Linkara/Lewis Lovehaug just fine, I don't despise him at all, in any way. When he did the plea for people to stop using adblock or whatever, I didn't think anything of it. Just continued doing what I always did and kept on...it wasn't for months that I learned people made a giant stink about it, and I thought that was really over reaction. I understood where Linkara was coming from in his rant, but honestly, I didn't really care, and just kept on. Nothing changed for me at all. There's no "drama" in my original post. Linkara hasn't changed or done or said anything that offended me and made me upset, even in the slightest. I don't consider his videos to have dipped in quality, they're pretty much the same as they've always been. It's just that I always prided myself on being able to watch every episode. I don't care that other people can't or don't or whatever, I just liked that I had seen every episode as a private personal "yay me" kinda thing. I liked that, when I saw another fan say "I haven't watched in a long time, but want to get back into Linkara...any good episodes to start with?" I could tell them. It was silly and pointless, yeah, but I liked the thought that I could help and recommend stuff to people. Then the Doctor Who and Star Trek comics happened. For the first time, I found myself actually skipping episodes whenever he'd review these things (eh, Next Gen comics I could handle, but Spock, Kirk, and Bones, never appealed to me). That was okay, I figured no one could keep up forever, so I didn't think about it or let it trouble me. Now with these Patreon reviews, comics that don't appeal to me seem to be coming more and more frequently. It has nothing really to do with Lewis or anything like that, more of a private sadness for me that something I enjoyed so much, I'm kinda moving away from. I didn't really intend for this thread to be a "bash Linkara" thing or rant and rave that "he's not as good as he once was" (to me, he still is fine and entertaining), it's just his material doesn't apply to me anymore. It's kinda like a comedian who makes tons and tons of elephant jokes, and you absolutely love them. Every once in a while he makes whale jokes or bear jokes, but those are still really great too, and you enjoy them almost as much. He might make a yellow bellied sap sucker joke, and those aren't so funny, but whatever. Then he has to get a sponsor and starts telling envelope jokes. Um, you're positive they're funny to somebody, and he's telling the jokes just fine...but there's nothing inside you that wants to laugh at them at all. You've enjoyed this comedian for a very long time, but the realization that maybe it's time to move on has kinda set in. Again, this is no fault of his. I understand Linkara needs and wants money, and I support him doing whatever he can to get what he needs. I just started this thread on here because I knew there were other fans, and just wanted to read any responses to see if people understood how I felt and felt the same way. I'm honestly very happy to see a few responses did feel the same way as well. I guess I realize that I'm probably coming across as selfish, and maybe it sounds like I'm saying "ME WANT ANGRY SUPER HERO COMICS REVIEWS ONLY ARGH!!!!" but seriously, that's not the case. I loved the Warrior stuff, the Tandy Computer Wiz Kids (admittedly I enjoyed the nonsensical issues involving Superman and Wonder Woman more than the others, but I still liked them all) and the positive reviews like the Titans retrospective, and stuff like the Dragnet review. I dunno, I'm rambling now and just thinking of personal changes in my life that are coming, I guess.
