Technically no promotion can make that claim for their championship, so the notoriety/visibility of WWE's world title gives it its top tier status in my eyes mainly. Pretty much. Sadly, and somewhat ironically, the one belt that comes closest still is the NWA title, since it has had defenses and/or trades in Japan, Canada and Mexico in the last decade that weren't just one promotion's guys. Yet when the WWF title "lost" it's world status it was contested in New Japan and Backlund would defend against Inoki & Dusty, Hogan defended the title against Inoki and Fujinami. Backlund would also go against the AWA & NWA Champions in title for title matches.

Disneyworld doesn't count as a world anymore? Mickey Mouse is going to be pissed. It's Mickey's fault for making Euro Disney a thing and letting the caged former starlets roam free.

For what it's worth, when Backlund (and Graham) defended against NWA World champs, they all (including Backlund and Vince) downplayed the WWF title being a World title and wouldn't refer to it as such, only as their Heavyweight title.
