Having not seen it yet, does anyone block a punch in this one? Because holy shit, the boxing in the first ones, they'd all be dead. It's not as bad as the first few Rocky Movies, but no there's not that much blocking. I used to box my self and my defense was poor, I did not last long because I developed a cataract in my right eye from poor defense

I don't know if I've ever cried so much at a movie before this one. Just... really bawling my eyes out at parts. Capped off by at the end seeing Winkler/Chartoffs credit and going "Oh wow, they're still going after all these years same guys that made Strawberry Statement, alright" then to see In memory of Robert Chartoff. I didn't even know he was sick!

For Rocky fans, this movie hits all the right spots, but IDK if it's any better then your favorite in the series. All a matter of opinion. But Adonis Creed is a great character. But some minor gripes I'm just nitpicking {Spoiler}1) No mention of the whereabouts of Steps and Marie? They become pretty close to Rocky in "Balboa"
2) Rocky gets lymphoma, and Robert's gonna stay in Vancouver?
3) Although they fixed it, I feel like the beginning of film kinda negated all the feel good moments of Balboa. Rocky was back to being depressed and lonely with nobody in his life around for him. The "stuff was back in the basement"
4) The ending (post fight) of the film was a bit anticlimactic. I wanna know if Rock's going to live or die And just for fun I'd like to see the franchise continue {Spoiler}Since the fight pretty much mirrors the first Rocky/Apollo fight
Creed II: "Pretty" Ricky Conlan gets released from jail, and wants his title back and challenges Creed to a rematch. Adonis and Bianca get married, but she wants Adonis to quit fighting bc he doesn't have to anymore. Adonis JR is born, and Adonis defeats Conlan
Creed III Creed has lost his edge and guest stars on the Muppets and fights John Cena in a charity match. A new bruiser Slugger Tang played by Jon Bones Jones wants his title. Tang knocks out Adonis with ease Rocky succumbs to a relapse of cancer and Adonis loses himself. Here comes a retired Conlan to rescue to train his old nemesis and regain his eye of the Tiger. Conlan/Creed III happens behind closed doors
Creed IV: A new Islamic Pakistani boxer rises to the scene and wants in on the boxing scene. Conlan has the itch to fight again, and challenges him to an exhibition as as the free world's amabassador against terrorism. Adonis thinks its a bad idea but goes along with it. Conlan dies in the ring and even though he's a Creed, Adonis doesn't throw in the towel bc that's not what Apollo/Rocky/Ricky would do. Creed avenges Ricky's death and defeats the Mighty Muslim in a fight in Pakistan by unconventional training methods. He wins the crowd over as people began chanting "Creed, Creed" He gives the "If I can change speech" and metaphorically ends the war with ISIS
Creed V: Suffering heavy brain damage with his fight with the Mighty Muslim, and Bianca going fully deaf, the Creed family is down on their luck. Creed's brother somehow loses all their finances bc he inexplicibly has power of attorney and made some bad investments for his gym. He moves to the slums of Philly and meets a new hungry contender Timmy Rifle. Rifle is a hot head and wants Adonis to train him. But a new hotshot promoter, Millard Fillmore Dink wants Rifle to fight Creed in a prize fight. Creed trains Rifle but he is stubborn and wants fame. One thing leads to another and they fight in the streets of philly. Adonis JR ages 10 years and becomes a whiny brat.
Adonis Creed: Creed is at a loss now that Bianca untimely passed away, and Adonis JR moved out of his life. He wants to fight again as his brain damage seems to have been miraculously fixed. A video simulation of him taking on current champ Golden "The Bridge" Gate stirs up controversy and Adonis steps in the ring one last time.

This didn't feel like it takes place in the same world where less than ten years ago ancient Rocky held his own with a modern killer fighter. I was surprised his son was in Vancouver and not deceased, as Sage is. In my head I went with Rocky's son being dead, as Sly's son is, so I never even thought of him being 'in Vancouver' when Rocky got his dx.

As big of a Rocky fan as I am, I don't think I'll watch this. The franchise ended with Rocky Balboa, the most perfect Rocky movie for me. I have no doubt that it's good, though, as Stallone is a criminally underrated filmmaker. But Creed has nothing to do with Stallone as a filmmaker other than him as a supporting actor. Coogler did put a lot of unique touches on it too, like the long take fight one and focusing on characters without fail for consistent amounts of time. I did really like this, although it did have some issues (a wee bit too formulaic and the boxing scenes got kinda ridiculous like the other Rocky movies) but it was good enough to overcome those with its acting/characters. Glad to see Tessa Thompson get more work, since she has been underused for a long time prior to last year.

Gonna go see this at the matinee on Monday. Won't feel too stupid going to a movie alone at that time and day of the week.

Jordan went from one of the biggest bombs of the year to scoring a knockout.

What a movie. In my top 3 Rocky themed movies for sure, maybe even top two.
If you are a Rocky fan, this hits all the right notes and you HAVE to see it

Jordan went from one of the biggest bombs of the year to scoring a knockout. It's like Kate Mara, she went from FF to being in The Martian

Jordan went from one of the biggest bombs of the year to scoring a knockout. It's like Kate Mara, she went from FF to being in The Martian I'm happy for them. They were both clearly the two with the most potential in that movie. Jordan needs another shot at being a super hero. Dude is built for it.

Saw it tonight, I loved it. I am planning on seeing it again soon. It really captured a lot of the spirit from the original Rocky films and there were a lot of callbacks to previous moments in the series. Jordan and Stallone were great together in this one and this movie was a knockout. I highly recommend it to anyone who has not seen it yet.

saw it on the weekend, and took my mom who is a huge rocky fangirl, and we both really really loved this film, such a great addition to the rocky franchise.

My favorite movie of the year. I also love how it took steps in building it's own universe and already set up two possible sequels in terms of the fighters. One at the beginning of the film. I hope to see more films in the franchise.
My one weird nitpick which is also one of my biggest praises is everything seems so polished up including the fights. Like the fights looked pretty realistic compared to other rocky films and some unique artistic touches. That fight shot in one take actually being done in one take is some pure film making magic

Saw this today. Wow. Blown away. The Rocky movies have a special place in my heart. KY grandparents rented all 5 from Blockbuster and dubbed them for me when I was 7 years old, back before Blockbuster started blocking that. I wore those VHS's out over the years. I have seen ever rocky movie over 10 times for sure. Probably more if being honest. I loved Rocky Balboa too.
This movie was great. I laughed, I cried, I just felt good. I have seen a lot of people calling the running scene with the motorcycles corny, but I loved it. It made me cry. Adonis yelling "YOU FIGHT, I FIGHT" was just good shit. Sly and MJB had great chemistry. I hope they make more Creed movies.

Just saw out. Great movie that had great parallels from the first rocky movie while maintaining it independence. Only issue I have is Rocky from movie to movie goes from bumbling his words to being well spoken. But definitely recommend the flick

Really good movie. Least favorite part: The scene explaining the word "jawn". That word is only to be used in Philadelphia and now the rest of you jerks are going to go around ruining it. Favorite part: {Spoiler}I will fully admit to my eyes misting up when they finally hit the f***ing theme at the start of Round 12.

Movie broke me at two different points. Not the best Rocky movie by a longshot, but definitely a worthy successor. Also, I like how they subtly set up a sequel. {Spoiler}Creed fighting Andre Ward's character (that knocked him out in the beginning, and was the #1 contender) for the vacant title.
