there was that guy with the dreadlocks who was tag team partners with Curt Hawkins who were both entertaining (if I remember correctly they both randomly showed up on Raw for about 2 weeks to never be heard from on the main shows again) That would be Tyler Reks. Probably best remembered for making that flash cartoon that got canceled after four episodes. The tosser that came out of nowhere to steal Kaval's spot on Team Smackdown before Bragging Rights 2010.

It needs to be clarified to those who didn't watch at the time that under no circumstances should anybody watch what NXT Redemption was when they still billed it as a competition between rookie superstars like Lucky Cannon and Connor O'Brian seeking redemption. That was truly an abomination before god. But once they dropped all of the lame 'rookie challenge' shtick that plagued NXT from the beginning, I want to say this was about August 2011 or so, it became gold.

It's all on hulu for plus (or whatever it's called now) subscribers. Even though they scrapped the whole "redemption" thing it was still referred to as NXT Redemption with the on screen graphics and on here. I remember Alex Riley and Tyson Kidd were a tag team and Riley was ridiculously over (I guess it wasn't too long after he was on Raw as The Miz's lackey)

Kidd and TAFKA Michael McGuillicutty's feud was pretty good too. I think it even leaked over to the first episode of Full Sail NXT. Oh, and I enjoyed teh weird team of McGuillicutty & Curtis.
Oh, and Dirty Curty's theme was pretty sweet:

And Jacob Novak gave us Heel JTG. Riley didn't show up on NXT Redemption until January 2012. I think McGillicutty came out, cut a heel promo, Riley challenged him to a match and beat him. Riley was always ridiculously over. More over than he had any right to be. They seriously ruined him in the eyes of the fans when they placed him on commentary. When he shuts the f*** up and just wrestles, it's magic and people just want to root for him. I think a lot of people have forgotten that because they're still salty over his bad commentary.

NXT Redemption, and even the divas season was probably a really awkward time for the live crowd before Smackdown, this was pre-Network and it was rarely advertised on Raw like the original NXT season.
Must have just been an hour long mystery for those who didn't follow it.

Must have just been an hour long mystery for those who didn't follow it. I attended two of these tapings, looking at the results I remember nothing unusual from the Sept 2011 show in Toledo which ended with a Darren Young/William Regal main event, but the May 2012 one was a zoo. Alicia Fox promising JTG a makeover, Reks and Hawkins protesting, it was a very silly show that the crowd seemed to be befuddled by.

I was really looking forward to Brandon Stroud recapping this, but it looks like he abandoned the old NXT recaps with so many other recaps to do. Shame.

I thought this was going to be a thread about the NXT all Diva's episode when we could hear Kevin Dunn producing throughout the entire show....

Yeah the stuff with previous NXT losers, redemption points and challenges was LAAAAAME (shout outs to Lucky Cannon and Jacob Novak)
But after it became the wacky alternate universe feat. Dirty Curty, Maxine, Bateman, Regal, Hawkins/Reks, AJ, Kaitlyn, Striker, Titus, D-Young & co it became absurd and entertaining and fun! The neverendingness added some kind of charm!
Also enjoyed the little Tyson vs Yoshi feud with the action figure
