Just watched the trailer and I am even more pumped. Can't wait to see the continuation of Ash's story. Did Raimi confirm if he's still intending on merging the narratives of Ash and Mia into the show?

Okay, that does look pretty cool. I especially like how they mixed in old-school Deadites and some different monsters. Although I do find it ironic that they make jokes about Ash being old and out of shape whereas Bruce Campbell looks the best he has in years.

You know, it's been rumored so many times in the past 20 years that an Evil Dead sequel starring Bruce Campbell and directed by Sam Raimi became something of a joke. Past a certain point, I just felt bad for everyone involved because they'd get non-stop badgering from fans about when/if a sequel would happen. So the fact it's actually happening is surreal in and of itself. The fact that it's so true to the original franchise, and that Bruce hasn't missed a beat as Ash even 22 years after Army of Darkness is just mindblowing. I can't wait for this.

This has been so much of a great weekend with all of the various trailers and toy reveals. I'm just happy.

Is this ignoring Army of Darkness? Don't think so, it has footage from ED2, which leads directly into AOD.

Don't think so, it has footage from ED2, which leads directly into AOD. Leads directly into it, yes, but AOD also essentially redoes Evil Dead 2 in the first two minutes so I never knew if it was meant to be a recap or just a "reboot." Also, wasn't it just him and the girlfriend in Evil Dead 2/AOD? The trailer says "Me and my friends," which is clearly the original - which was pretty much discarded in Evil Dead 2. Actually, ED2 wasn't meant to remake the original so much as Raimi and co didn't have the rights to the footage from the original to show at the beginning of the film. So it was one of those situations where they had to reshoot new footage recapping the story from the original. And considering how many of the original actors left the first film during production itself, it probably would've been too much of a hassle trying to recast their roles for a 5 minute reshoot 5 years later.

Looks good. Pretty much picks up where AoD leaves off with Ash battling deadites after coming back through time and working at S-Mart (shop smart). The style definitely feels like AoD, which is cool.

Yeah, but it retconned it from four people to two. Unless we are to believe Ash was stupid enough to go back to that cabin. I specifically remember Raimi and Campbell addressing that, whether in an interview or a commentary but I honestly don't remember at this point. Honestly, as a horror fan, I've gotten used to overlooking glaring continuity errors (like the transition from ED1 to 2) when there are budgetary and time constraints in the way. I know they intended it to be one cohesive trilogy, so I just shrug my shoulders and give them the benefit of the doubt. At least that's how I choose to look at it.

Wish they'd done this years before when Bruce was closer to his prime but it looks great nonetheless.

They can go back to saying it was with a group of friends and still keep Army of Darkness canon.

The tone seems great, similar to My Name Is Bruce but with the key difference that Ash is taken a bit more seriously than Bruce himself. The new deadites and monsters look good, and definitely seems to have the 'splatstick' feel with the gore and action. Can't wait for this.
As far as Evil Dead canon goes, I normally just use the layout of Evil Dead The Musical to combine ED and EDII. Albeit probably with less singing and penis jokes.

They can go back to saying it was with a group of friends and still keep Army of Darkness canon. "Whatever." So condescending. All I meant is that at the end of the day, it's not very important which version of canon they go as long as the show is good.
