I think they were two separate feuds. The first part was with Guerrero for the WWE Championship in 2004, and the second part was with Mysterio for the World Heavyweight Championship in 2006. That could very well be. My memory is a bit fuzzy on them as I didn't pay close attention. I just remember being disgusted by the hunting mexicans video. to be fair,i think that was the reaction they hoped. It was supposed to make you hate JBL

It was one thing for the despicable heel to do some truly questionable stuff but then the GM basically endorses it by giving him a title shot?

I met Booker along with a few other people a few months ago.
He was asked flat out how he felt about how he was treated when he came to WWE.
He had kind of a funny look on his face and said "All that matters is that you provide for your family." while Sharmell nodded and agreed behind him.
Something tells me there's more to that.

Bulgarua wasn't even part of Russia or the Soviet Union, it made no sense whatsoever to make him Russian. At least with Kozlov, Ukraine was a former Soviet country. Russian is the main foreign language spoken in Bulgaria In 2005, yes. In 2012, English overtook Russian as Russian-speakers tended to be of an older age and had passed away. The majority of people in Bulgaria believe English to be more useful than Russian, as well. Rusev never even cut promos in Russian, he was speaking Bulgarian the entire time. Also, Bulgaria was still never part of Russia or the USSR, which was my point.

To an extent, I'm fine with using scripted racism in pro wrestling by heels. As long as the babyface immediately provides a concise counter-point against the idiot heel's racism, then having the idiot racist heel lose and get embarrassed and eventually see the error of their ways, then it's fine with me. But I know WWE can't do that now because of social justice warriors and being a publicly-traded company (and their inability to script concise stories).

Actually, "SJWs" would probably endorse an angle where a bigot gets comeuppance, and the audience is clearly shown "the non-bigot is the guy to cheer, here." Unfortunately, WWE would also probably not get a ton of leeway due to its history of stereotyping and poor booking on this front (e.g. it wouldn't really work if the good guy was somebody with a clearly stereotypical gimmick already), but it's an angle that could definitely be done well if it's done right. So it's less to do with the angle itself, and more to do with folks being wary of how WWE would handle it, I'd wager.

You could probably just do a collage of Rusev beating black wrestlers almost exclusively for the first however many months of his undefeated streak. That was just odd.

Social Justice Warriors would be a great name for a stable.

Apart from that time on Smackdown where him and Khali were playing flutes to 'charm' Santino's Cobra, no doubt to the amusement of Michael Hayes and Michael Hayes alone. That segment where they charmed the cobra was actually the first time I ever changed the channel during wrestling. I changed the channel too, but it wasn't because of racism.

If the angle is "heel says something racist" in Segment 1 and "babyface goes over" in Segment 2, there would still be headlines of "WWE Promotes Racism" before the commercial between the two segments end. A lot of people love to be offended.
