It would be a bummer. Some guys, it's alright for them to have a long drought then get back to top guy status. Chris Jericho pulled it off, but people always loved Jericho and wanted him to succeed. Sheamus has had a shorter time away from the WWE title, but no one's really clamoring for him to be back in the hunt, while there are so many wrestlers that fans actually would like to see reach main event status.

It's a shame since Sheamus came back with a new look, new music and a character tweak (wanting to take down the little guys), but they quickly dropped the resentment of little guys and really now he's just the same old Sheamus, just wrestling faces instead of heels. And he's STILL facing Dolph Ziggler and Randy Orton constantly.

Agree with fact he will be used as fodder in the great Roman Reigns operation of 2015/2016.
Sheamus will run down for the cash in after Reigns appears almost dead, Reigns will overcome the odds and pin Sheamus as well.

As much as he's perceived as a guy who really benefited from having two world titles, I think it was his WHC run that sank him for most people, and his booking has never been strong enough to pull him back up from that.

Despite the new look and music, he still feels stale to me. Th idea that he could become champion again does not excite.

Sure. I'd be down for a Sheamus reign. We'd get to see more of his awesome titantron video.

If they gave him a Hall of Pain-like Mark Henry run where he just wrecks people, I could see it. They've done a good job making him less bland, but he's still not quite out of Blandsville yet. Changing his attire could help some, but so can good storytelling. In other words, I don't have my hopes up.

For some reason, people seem to stop placing as much blame on Creative when it comes to discussing certain wrestlers. Sheamus is one of those wrestlers.

Sheamus, Owens, Rusev, etc could all be great heels but WWE just ruin them by having them back down from fights and run away like cowards. It does nothing for them. It doesn't make the crowd hate them more, it just makes them look worse.
Why should we care about watching Sheamus vs Reigns if Sheamus ran away from him? If they were going at it and locking horns every week, we'd be more invested. But if Sheamus runs away, why should we take him seriously?
Maybe I've been watching for too many years but I seriously am fed up of the "cowardly heel" act. In fact, I am fed up of faces and heels entirely. Give us shades of grey and let the FANS choose their favourites instead of forcing these turns and creating these seperate alignments.

I can imagine yet another shitty reign. We're already suffering through one right now. When do we get a break from the shittiness?
