United and Everton finish 0-0 in Wayne Rooney's testimonial.

Roberto Martinez has failed upwards, landing the job as Belgium's new manager.
Also, Jérémy Ménez has had a debut he'd like to forget for Bordeaux after having half of his right ear torn off.

Celtic reach the play off round of the Champions League by the skin of their teeth after Astana conceded two penalties with the deciding one taking place in stoppage time. Moussa Dembele FINALLY got his goal to help Celtic achieve guaranteed European football this season.
The best bit about Roberto Martinez being named the Belgium manager is the reactions by Lukaku and Mirallas, especially since you KNOW they're talking about Martinez.

The Belgian FA should be forced to watch the second half of Everton's season and rethink that. Lukaku won't play for him. He's the Johnny Ace of World Football. He only gets jobs because he looks good in a suit. The funniest part will be watching his idiot assistant jump up and down after they get a set piece. Even though they don't practice them because Bobby thinks it's "parasite football."

Quite appropriate for the most over rated team in international football to now be coached by one of the most over-rated managers in world football!

By beating Jacksonville last night, 5-2, Indy is back on top of the NASL standings. I'm still hoping we pull the trifecta this year; Spring title, Fall title, and Soccer Bowl champions.

The English Championship returns tomorrow night as Fulham take on Newcastle United live on Sky Sports 1 at 19:45.
Be interesting to see how Newcastle start off their Championship tenure, could be a sign of how their season will go. I'd definitely be tipping Newcastle to get promoted this season.

Ok, I'm assuming no one wants to do a Fantasy League for next season. I'll start up the new shiny thread in a bit.

As embarrassing as it is for a club with as big a loyal following as Newcastle has to be relegated, I think a season in the championship will do wonders for the development of players like Perez, Mitrovic, Armstrong, and Lascelles. Especially with Rafa Benitez mentoring them. In turn, that could pay series dividends for them if and when they get back to the top flight.

I've seen some people online rip into Benitez for somehow "falling from grace" by staying with Newcastle in the Championship, but I think he sees this as a unique challenge for a Champions League winning manager like him to come up against. I mean Newcastle are certainly the favourites, but don't count out any of the other teams as well. Aston Villa is one I'm particularly interested in this season also. New ownership, new manager, new signings (Ross McCormack signing should hopefully free up Scott Sinclair to come to Celtic). It surely can't get any worse than last season for Villa. Now watch as they get relegated to League One since I typed that.

If he leaves, he'd have been accused of abandoning the club when they would need him most. I agree with you, Benitez sees a challenge that, if he's successful, it would add something significant to his legacy in the sport.

Celtic draw Hapoel Be'er Sheva from Israel in the Champions League play off. I'm quietly confident about Celtic's chances but Be'er Sheva knocked out Olympiakos in the previous round so they're no slouches.
Man City have drawn Steaua Bucharest in the play off as well. Pretty sure Man City will sew this one up easily.

And hopefully Dundalk can make it past Legia Warsaw to qualify for the group stages of the Champions League.
I'd love to see Leicester and Dundalk in the same Champions League group.
