Spurs looking good pre-season, nice win over Milan the other night. Am pretty optimistic this season.

Sunderland slow out of the blocks in 2015/2016... Down 3-0 already to Leicester.

Dick Advocaat should resign now, before half time.

Both Rooney and Kane were isolated for large parts of the game today. Neither team did a good job of getting their target men involved.
Had Eriksen converted that early chance (and he should have), it would have been an entirely different match and United would have been chasing the game.
Sergio Romero had a couple of nervy moments, but acquitted himself well when he needed to.
Matteo Darmian, Chris Smalling and Eric Dier were all impressive.
Not a vintage performance from either side, but I'll take the three points.

Odion Ighalo. Mother of God. EDIT: This isn't working, so enjoy this Ross Barkley screamer in its place.

A great 1-3 victory to start off the season by Palace. Nice to see Cabaye getting on the scoreboard in his debut.
In unrelated news, Jari Litmanen got married in Rome yesterday. Amongst the people who sent him their best wishes were the current president of Finland, Michel Platini and the Italian FA.

Seeing a lot of people saying how poorly Chelsea played, I choose to say how well Swansea played.

Man, I hope the Eleven score tonight. They haven't in nearly 300 minutes.

Great moment in the Doncaster vs Bury match today. In the 89th minute and with the match goalless, a Bury player was injured so Doncaster put the ball out for a throw-in. Bury took the throw and gave it to their player who hit it towards the Doncaster Goalie but he over-hit it and it went into the goal (the player's reaction after showed he had no intention of scoring). There was a bit of discussion between the Benches and Officials and so from the kick-off the Bury players just stood there and let Doncaster walk the ball into their goal to equalise.

Seeing a lot of people saying how poorly Chelsea played, I choose to say how well Swansea played. Swansea was very good. Shelvey was terrific and I think they might have something with Montero/Gomis. They could have been up 5-0 at one point. I don't think Chelsea was good, but they certainly weren't terrible. Courtois was solid before he got sent off and Begovic made a couple of fine saves when he replaced him. I think Costa had a good shout for a penalty in the first half, but he doesn't have a great reputation and the no call had a lot to do with that.

I feel sorry for anyone who had a bet on under 1.5 goals in the game...thankfully I didn't!

Looked like some of the Bury players were annoyed they had to let him score, the keeper in particular looked like he wasn't happy but I think it was the fair thing to do.

You could actually see some of the Bury players trying to get the Ref to call it a foul throw from which the goal came from. I think they would rather have the goal disallowed and get a 0-0 than a 1-1. I'd be a bit pissed off if I'd played for the best part of a match and had kept a clean sheet but then had to let a player walk it past me. I know it's the honourable thing to do but I can see why they felt that way. Maybe they could have scratched the result and played it again? It wouldn't be the first time it's happened.

As minute the significance, 1-1 is more beneficial than 0-0 in that it gives a boost to goals scored.
Either way, for special cases like that, where the team that scored doesn't even want the goal, I don't see why referees are not allowed to be more flexible in their decision-making. Surely two teams mutually agreeing that the goal was not proper should be enough reason for a referee to reverse the decision on a goal, even when no existing rule is violated in the lead-up to the goal.

wonder if the bury goalkeeper was thinking ..... should i hack him down and give away a penalty? BECAUSE I DIDNAE WANNA watched the preston-middlebrough game earlier, didn't bother with the leeds game yesterday, and the arsenal got dobbed by west ham not bothering with stoke v liverpool but will watch the new york derby later
