I'm curious how exactly this is going to work, but it sounds like HBO is giving them a big chunk of cash which should help their production budget immensely.
I think people forget that years ago (if memory serves me correctly) HBO actually had family stuff on it to in addition to the Deadwood/GoT definitely-adult shows. I don't think they ever had straight-up porn unlike Cinemax, but I could be wrong.

HBO Family still exists and probably where this will be most aired when its on TV, the deal seems to be centered on getting it streamed while also keeping it on TV.

So this means that whenever someone brings up defunding PBS, no one can say anything about "Big Bird".

HBO still has a family friendly channel so that makes sense.

Meh, Fraggles helped HBO alot 30-35 years ago. And it will still be on PBS, just not first run.

Good news, it will allow for much more Sesame Street programming to be available to PBS in the future with less cost to the channel. Sounds like a really good move for everybody involved.
I'd have loved a cross-over with Mr. Show, where Bob & David are replaced by Bert & Ernie. The rest of the show is exactly the same Mr. Show, but Bert & Ernie are played straight(heh) as Bert & Ernie.
