The WCW Comics from Marvel did it first in the early '90s.

He should probably have a short haircut anyway, he looked like a scarecrow at WM.

'Cause if you're dark-haired and you keep on dying your hair that sort of blonde as you age, your hair winds up nasty and stringy like Flair or Hayes.
I think Dolph's brief "New and Improved" phase was to let his hair recover to hopefully not have that problem.

As Sting himself put it at Comic-con last year, "There aren't enough hairs on my head" to do it. It would be great to see Surfer Sting return but, without the platinum flat-top, it wouldn't be the same. He hasn't really been the monochrome Crow Sting for many years now, he'll put colour in there in his facepaint and outfits. Why did he stop dying the hair" What, the original turn from the flat-top? He stopped dying his hair around the start of October '95. Look at his matches at, say, Halloween Havoc '95 and World War 3 '95 and you can see the dark roots starting to show through. By the time he hit Starrcade '95 it's the same flat-top but now brown with a little blonde on the top. His hair started getting long enough to the point where he stopped doing the flat-top around February or so of '96, when he was tagging with Lex.

Who says Sting needs a flat top? He could probably get away with the Hardcore Holly haircut.

You want 1995 Sting? OK, here you go. He had like one match against Pittman and disappeared.
