When Bobby Bowden usurped nepotism laws and hired his son Jeff as offensive coordinator.
He was HORRENDOUS. His entire offense consisted of runs that went nowhere and jump balls downfield. They lost to Wake Forest something like 30-0 and he resigned.
That was the beginning of the end for the old man.

2012 Kansas City Chiefs is still the worst team I've ever seen play football. The 0-16 Lions would have scored 50 points on these guys. When it takes EIGHT GAMES to get your first lead in a game, having people putting on black protesting the games and having an airplane fly over with a banner saying to fire our GM, you know it's bad.
2008 was bad too because losing 7 games by 7 or fewer points is just heartbreak after heart break. It felt like they were cursed.

I'm a fan of the Knicks, Jets, Rangers, and Mets. While there's been some good in my lifetime, it's hard to narrow down the bad.

Another one was the 2011 season for Texas A&M. Their D couldn't hold a lead for nothing Man....started the yr ranked 8. Played 5 top 15 teams. Blew four 20 point leads to them. If they'd had made a 3rd down stop in the 3rd qtr of those games, they could have still lost to OU and made a BCS game. The Texas game was the most painful. I have watched that back five times and the late hit call that gave Texas a fresh set of downs is still a bad call that I feel, lost that game...the last Texas vs A&M game for maybe decades

As a Saints fan I've endured some pretty bad seasons. I recall 1993-94 being particularly bad. But hey, we've got a Lombardi trophy under our belts now and I'm content on coasting on that until I die. Also, I can help but notice that Cubs fans just aren't bothering to weigh in.

The year the 49ers only won 2 games was pretty bad, but I'd say worst was last year, they just sort of gave up.

2011 Ole Miss.
Starts off with a 14-13 loss to BYU. While you don't want to lose a game, BYU is generally a decent team and it was kind of a fluky game (both defenses scored a TD in the game). Then we struggled mightily against a 4-7 FCS team (Southern Illinois) where we won mainly because we jumped up 21-0 and then had to get a few big plays to keep the comeback from happening. Then, a blowout loss to Vandy, a much-worse-than the final 27-13 loss to UGA, then a win at Fresno...then the bottom fell out, culminating in a 52-7 home loss to Alabama, a 30-13 road loss to a terrible Kentucky team, a 27-7 home loss to La. Tech, and a 52-3 home loss to LSU. Word on the street was that the coaches just quit, and apparently even had signs telling everyone who was getting the ball toward the end of the year (like "Brazz" mean Nick Brassell was getting the ball).
The 2012 team went 7-6, which is mediocre--and it felt like we had won the national title, because the team went out swinging pretty much every time out.

Chiefs fan. Picks any season after 1969 that doesn't include Joe Montana at QB. I'll pick the specific one, 2006. Herm Edwards is hired to coach. It is apparent that he is a pretty terrible coach from the beginning. He keeps on insisting that they have the same playbook as the years before, however it is so obvious they don't. All the shifting before the plays are gone. All of the uniqueness is gone. The make it to 9-7 largely based on the incredible offensive line that is still intact. The get extremely lucky and make the playoffs after 4 teams lose in the last week. They get beaten pretty heavily in the playoffs as the Colts load up to stop the extremely overworked Larry Johnson. Herm has no idea how to adjust his offense in the game. Since they made the playoffs, it is apparent that Herm will get at least two more years, even though he is awful. Vermil didn't lead them to the promised land, but it is at least you knew he was a good coach. That season let you know that dark times were coming. It bothered me more than other seasons in which they were bad because before a lot of those season, you knew they would be bad.

The last 10 years of Kings basketball have been so awful to the point it's just numb. Last year MAY have been the worst (for those who don't know the story) because the team had a hot start, looked good for the first time in years, but out superstar caught meningitis and that was the excuse that directly led to the owner firing his coach. The team instantly imploded. There were some awful years for the 49ers pre-Harbaugh... Coach Dennis Erickson, Mike Nolan, Mike Singletary. All awful. QB's Tim Rattay, Cody Pickett, and a bunch of other no-names following Jeff Garcia. Picking Alex Smith as the number one overall pick over Aaron Rodgers (oops....) This season is also going to be a spectacular Trainwreck, but it will kind of be darkly enjoyable to see how the morons in charge (Owner Jed York and GM Trent Baalke) try to spin it. I feel like you posted every single thought I had in my head.

This is a tough one for me. I have two that immediately come to mind. I am the odd combination of being a Boston sports fan for every sport besides basketball where I am a Hornets fan largely because my father is from Charlotte. So I have the obvious choice where we had the worst season in NBA history but I knew it was going to be painful so the fact that it was THAT painful wasn't that bad looking back but it was incredibly depressing especially when the final game that put it over the top was on national television. The other one would be the 2011 Red Sox season where they had the worse collapse I had ever witnessed and I have witnessed a lot of them. We had a multi-run lead going into the 9th and the Rays were down going into the 9th against the Yankees. We were going to advance without even having a one game playoff. Then in the span of about ten minutes we went from that to being out of the playoffs.

Quick question to Euro football fans: the hell teams get regulated means? Is it bad? Yes, it's pretty damn bad. We have leagues, which are split into divisions. Using the English football league we have the Premiership, then the Championship, then Leagues One and two. They used to be called division 1 through 4 until TV money and sponsorship made a difference in the '90s. There are many more leagues below that, right down to basically pub level. Bottom 2 or 3 clubs (depending on the country or division they are in) get dropped down into the division below. This is called relegation. Less money, smaller crowds, best players want to leave ect ect. All the teams want to get promoted back into the next league, this means competition is fierce and your position actually means something.

Shit! So basically if say, if The Cubs sucked hard enough, they would get dropped to AAA(step below the Majors) baseball if MLB followed that?
Harsh.

In the 1996-1997 Middlesbrough FC got relegated from the Premier League and lost in the FA Cup Final and League Cup Final. I witnessed it all in person and it wasn't pretty
