Honestly Hardcore Diaries is the only book of Foley's I've read. Didn't do much to make me want to read the others. Then you're missing out. His first book is wonderful, maybe my favourite book to read, it's so enjoyable.

Anyway an on topic post, I haven't read Countdown To Lockdown but it generally sounds like an okay read. Have A Nice Day is in my opinion the best Mick Foley book, it is completely neccisary wrestling fan reading and I go back to it every couple of years because it's a pleasure.
As for why WWE promoted it and TNA didn't? Bugger knows, though I'd guess it's because WWE are far better at business than TNA could ever dream of being and a Foley apperance pops the crowd, or at least used to?

But it is MUCH better than Hardcore Diaries, which was so aggressively unpleasant to read it actually stopped me being a fan of Mick's for two years. Are we the same person? I hated the Mick in that book. Grouchy, and egotistical. Mick the Terry Funk biting a chunk out of Vince's ass wasn't that good of an idea. Yes we are. YOU KNOW IT IN YOUR HEART TO BE TRUE

Anyone read Russo's book? How WCW killed Russo, or called something like that, where it was basically him saying the company killed him and he's not to blame for anything and he's basically a saviour of wrestling? Better than this book. Easily Foley's worst. I read Russo's first book, Forgiven. In the prologue he says something like, "I thought Jeff Jarrett was my friend, but turns out he was a dick like everyone else. Anyway, more on that later." and then proceeds to NEVER MENTION JEFF AGAIN IN THE WHOLE BOOK.

The other half is Bray Wyatt fantasy booking.

I got this book a few years ago as a Christmas present, my parents got it on clearance. Gave it a read and thought it was fine, like has been mentioned his 2 chapters on the Benoit situation and the open letter to wrestlers are very well done. As luck so happens, a few months after I read the book, I took a non-fiction class in college and our big project for the semester was to pick a non-fiction book and give a presentation on it. Luckily Foley was still well known enough that the class knew who he was and my teacher was even happy that someone chose him as their author.

Mick defended Linda McMahon in the media during her first Senate run. And yeah, Mick still pops WWE crowds. Did you not see him at Summerslam?

Yeah I don't remember TNA promoting the book that heavily. WWF used to pump Have a Nice Day plugs in every two minutes when it was on the best seller list. I never read Countdown to Lockdown. Wish I had. Hardcore Diaries was tough man. I was used to his style in Foley is Good and Have a Nice Day but in the hardcore diaries he just seemed abandon what made the others good. My copy of have a nice day has been read and lent so often it is falling apart and is held the get her by batches of tape in odd and random places. Hardcore Diaries is lost somewhere in my boxes of books that I don't care enough to re-read along with such literary works as "Digital Fortress", Katastrophe", The Vampire Companion, Jerry Lawler's Its good to be King and many more. He just went pretentious as hell in it and sounded crabby and a little like his own mark. I enjoyed his discussing burying the hatchet with Flair and how honest Terry Funk was about his esteem for the first ONS

Tori Amos aside I've loved all of Foley's books. The Hardcore Diaries I liked as I felt it gave a real insight into the inner workings of the WWE and how they can take a great premise and then nearly sap all that's great about it away.
I thought Foley's 2009 TNA run was exceptional and the promo just before Lockdown where he beats down Sting and then demands they play Shark Boy's theme and then Curry Man's just to prove how much power he had was phenomenal. I also loved the over arching subtle plot of Jeff Jarrett almost convincing Sting to leave the Main Event Mafia before Foley's crazed ego ruined everything and brought the MEM closer together. His title run was awesome too, even if it shouldn't have happened. Lastly the actual video package for Sting/Foley was just great and one of TNA's best packages.
I guess it depends on how much you liked TNA in 2009. I loved it.
The Tori Amos stuff is basically how much he loved one of her songs called 'Winter' and how her beautiful voice somehow fit with all these violent images in his head of moves he wanted to do at Lockdown and somehow served as a muse for him. I think he may have said he told her about it and it kind of freaked her out or something.
