Go watch Jurassic Bark. You'll feel better. Just skip to the end Whatever you do, don't do this. Just don't buy into it and surround yourself with people who are more positive. Facebook is always, always, always going to buy into the media. And the media loves fear-mongering. Which is why I stick more to Tumblr, which seems to be 90% ships and silliness. And animal gifs. It's also perspective. Once you start being fed up with negativity, yu ' re going to miss the positivity more easily. There's plenty of ammo for what you're saying, but there's a lot of good out there too. It's just harder to see in a jaded mindset.

Doom and gloom suck. However, so does blind positivity. Find the truth, own the truth, and be real about it. Figure out solutions to problems, instead of ignoring them and smiling away, or whining doom and gloom and not solving anything. Positivity is very misplaced sometimes, but it isn't terribly harmful that I've seen. Constant negativity just weighs people down. The problem with most people's negativity is it's toward things that they can't change. So yes, ignoring those things is a great answer.

It isn't that hard to avoid all the true and fake bad news stuff. I haven't read a newspaper in 15 years or watched the news in about the same amount of time. As far as FB,it ain't hard to either block or defriend people that are always propagating bad news.

I don't know whether it fits into 'doom and gloom', but I am sick of the internet reminding me on a constant basis that I'm worthless, my life is pointless, and that life in general just isn't worth living. So there's that.

So there's that. I know how you feel. I've been struggling with my severe depression and anxiety problems at their absolute worst since November. I've been going to therapy and got my meds changed, but it hasn't done much at all. Everyday's a struggle getting out of bed and seeing how well everyone else is doing only makes me feel worse. I haven't had an actual friend to hang out with or shoot the shit with for a long time and it's been difficult coming to the realization that I really don't have any real friends. Sorry to hijack. Just finally had a good opportunity to vent.

So there's that. Some Internet troll tells you your life is pointless, ask yourself, who the hell are they? Why do they think they can judge you. Look, your life is something you need to find a purpose to. You need to give it meaning. It doesn't matter what some total stranger that you've never met thinks about you. Life is only what you make it. It's never easy, but trust me, it is worth it. Good luck

It's refreshing that there are still places like this, where we can discuss something we love without jumping down each other's throats. Totally agreed. There's a reason why there's so many openly gay, bi and trans people around here. Or how so many of us feel comfortable enough to discuss our personal problems. It's because, at the end of the day, we're decent people that want to treat each other with respect.

It stops pointless arguments on those subjects before they even start.

I know what you mean. I've been away from the internet for a week getting my computer fixed, and I'm already depressed.

I've experienced some things in my life, where people had problems and those taking care of them thought "oh it's just a phase everything will be ok" and it was never okay. That's where I think it can be a bad thing. I feel that a positive attitude can manifest itself in complacence, in extreme cases. Sometimes, facts must be faced, even if they are ugly and negative. But that's more of a mutated sense of positivity, there's definitely a healthy way to be positive and I'm trying to live that way.
