Don Pyke to resign as Adelaide head coach just shy of two years since taking the Crows to the AFL Grand Final .. although the club has been a bit of dog’s breakfast on Grand Final day and the two seasons since. Although others like team selectors and admin need to held accountable too.
And a reminder today is R U OK day. With what happened this week, think we should all remind each other that it’s ok to talk about stuff.. shit I’m not good at this. You are You.

Willie Rioli is going to get a very long suspension for substituting his urine in a drug test, when will West Coast admit they have a problem with their culture? They have been having these issues for 15 years.

Down to the Final 4 in the AFL
Reigning Premiers the West Coast Eagles are out. And the surprise packet of 2019 the Brisbane Lions have gone out in straight sets. I know it was a good year for them, but going out like they is like going into a motor race, you come from the back of the pack to get to a podium position, but then you crash out on the second last lap.
Also Luke Hodge has retired after a stellar career. For reals this time. Didn’t make a big show of it this time (although that big retirement match in 2017 was Hawthorn’s doing because they didn’t know Hodgey was considering a move to Brisbane at the time). And with that I think he should definitely go into coaching.. he is too football smart not to a least try. Might even be smart enough to go straight into a head coaching role (could happen two head coach spots have not been filled yet)... but he should play it safe and secure an assistant role or coaching a state league side first.
So next week the Prelim Finals (times in AEST):
Friday Night 7:50 at the MCG: Richmond vs Geelong
Saturday late afternoon 4:35: Collingwood vs the Gilly Mac Super Awesome AFL team GWS
Geelong will be without Tom Hawkins due to suspension (no word if Geelong will fight that ruling)
And GWS maybe without Toby Greene for.. the f*** am I saying... will be fined and play. Edit update: Greene has been suspended for a week.

And we have six left in the NRL, with Cronulla and Brisbane going home. Brisbane in particular got utterly smacked 58-0 by Parramatta.
Next week it’ll be South Sydney v Manly (winner plays Canberra in a preliminary final) and Melbourne v Parramatta (winner plays Sydney in the other one).

I added AFL to the DVR around this time last year. I'm still not quite sure what it is I'm watching, but the end of that Collingwood/GWS game was pretty great. The energy and atmosphere in their playoffs is amazing, much like our college football over here.

We got us an AFL Grand Final locked in now, with #3-Richmond aiming for their second flag in three years against first time grand finalists #6-Greater Western Sydney.

I was watching this at home with my stepfather, who normally dismisses this sport at face value as “aerial ping-pong”... Even he was into that final quarter. Would have been one of the greatest comebacks ever in the sport if Collingwood got that last goal.

Now, if I understand it correctly, had that reviewed kick not been touched by the defender, the game is tied correct?

I believe so, the game would have been tied, and then the point from the missed goal that they scored after that would have put Collingwood in the lead.

Oh I hope GWS win next week.
Just to tear off the bandaid.
Let’s just get it over with. See if more of the local community get behind them after winning the top prize.
It appears that Zapp Brannigan was in charge working in the ARC Bunker.

Ughhh, hope GWS gets slaughtered next week because they are a garbage club filled with garbage men. That is a ridiculous statement. Sure Toby Greene is a bit of a grub but "filled with garbage men"? Cmon, Phil Davis has been there from day one & is always classy & gracious, Jeremy Cameron literally gave a stranger money out of his own pocket when he returned his lost wallet today (it's all over social media, look it up). Cal Ward has been tireless in his efforts to build the culture of the place. Heath Shaw always fronts the Sydney media win, loss or draw to help promote the game in the toughest market for sport in country. Plus there are at least three pretty stellar humans working behind the scenes in Jimmy Bartel, Lenny Hayes & Jason McCartney. They won that prelim missing 5 of the best 10 players in their list (Greene, Ward, Coniglio, Deledio & Whitfield) at a ground they supposedly can't win at against an opposition that enjoyed about 90% of the crowd support. They earned a place in the grand final. They were written off after getting pumped by the Bulldogs in round 22. They have started underdogs in all three finals & been the better side in all 3 finals. They were predicted to go backwards this year after losing two more of their guns in Shiel & Scully 12 months after losing two other top players in Hoskin-Elliot & Cam McCarthy.

Fremantle’s Nathan Fyfe has won a second Brownlow medal, finishing six votes clear of runner up Patrick Dangerfield of Geelong.
Didn’t watch a lot of Fremantle matches this year, but from what I gather Fyfe had stellar year, even if his team didn’t.
