And pour one out for the 2020 Brisbane Broncos, one of the long-time powerhouses of the NRL, who end up with a 3-17 record after a horror show of a season and finish with the wooden spoon for the first time in their history.

And in news that shocks nobody in NRL circles the Storm are under investigation for using trainer stoppages for injured players as a tactic. This is clearly not allowed, typical grubby tactics from them. Parramatta on the attack 30m out from the line with the game in the balance & the trainer asked the referee to stop the game as a Melbourne player was cramping?!?! The referee isn't to blame here, Melbourne should be fined. The damn trainers spend too much time on the field as it is.

We have our grand finals set for what will be a most unusual Festival Of The Boot in 2020:
AFL: #3-Richmond v #4-Geelong (to be played in Brisbane for the first time, due to the long COVID lockdown in Victoria that is only starting to ease now)
NRL: #1-Penrith v #2-Melbourne

Man, this Grand Final day feels weird.
Usually I’m at brother’s families house, having a BBQ, and at about this time being 1:20pm est I would be two beers down already.
This year though, I’m at home, no beers yet (got some Heineken’s in the fridge), watching a twitch stream, and lamb shanks for dinner. Very strange. First time in two decades I won’t be spending it with certain family members and friends. Darn annoying but totally necessary lockdown.
As you can tell by the frequency of my posts this year, I haven’t really been very invested in the AFL season.. due to delayed season, the rule changes, Hawthorn’s form and Channel 7’s coverage (commentary has been abysmal this year, I often mute it and put music on). The games particularly post that hiatus were not great to watch.
But I’ll be watching later, two teams I don’t particularly care for. See how long I can put up with it before getting bored and turning to YouTube on my tablet.
Go Sports Team!

Absolute carnage before a point even gets scored in this night time AFL Grand Final in Brisbane, with both Geelong and Richmond seemingly losing a player to injury (one of whom being retiring legend Gary Ablett Jr).
EDIT: Ablett Jr is back out, however Nick Vlastuin took an accidental elbow to the head and probably won’t be.

Richmond Tigers are 2020 AFL Premiers
They they have gone back to back, also winning their third premiership in 4 seasons.
Well done, I guess
Edit: Dustin Martin has won the Norm Smith medal for the third time.

Melbourne up 22-0 at half time in the NRL Grand Final, Penrith having gone 20-1-1 to this point could be about to go home empty handed.

And Melbourne win it for their fourth (legal) premiership, holding off a late Penrith comeback to win it 26-20.
