And in a classic boil over, the Western Bulldogs have thumped Port Adelaide to advance to the 2021 AFL Grand Final!
Bevo’s Bottom Boys (trademark Wil Anderson and Charlie Clausen) have for the second time in a five year span have done the long way round after finishing in the bottom four of the top eight,
Of course they will face the Melbourne Demons.. and five years is hardly a premiership drought, but Luke Beveridge can do what no one has done at the Bulldogs … win multiple premierships as a coach… meaning if the Bulldogs win, he will become the most successful Bulldogs coach in the club’s history.

Truly amazing stat I heard is that only one Bulldog in the 97 year history of the club has ever played in more than 1 Grand Final, that being the greatest Bulldog of all time Ted Whitten.

Wines is first Port Adelaide listed player to win the award in the clubs history.

Michael Voss is the new senior coach of the Carlton Blues.
The Brownlow winner and 3 time premiership winning captain in his playing days, will head coach once again after an stint as the coach of the Lions after Leigh Matthews retired. That stint although making a final appearance, was not very successful so he was moved on.. but he stuck around as an assistant coach at other clubs and was well regarded and it seemed inevitable that he would sit in a big chair once again one day.
Well that day is today, and we know Carlton has been a train wreck administratively .. hoping for the sake of Voss and the Blues faithful .. they stick with it and things turn around.

AFL Grand Final tonight.
Meanwhile, our NRL Grand Final has been decided, and it will be #2-Penrith Panthers v #3-South Sydney Rabbitohs. Penrith looking for their first title since 2003 and only their third overall, while Souths are looking to add to their plentiful cabinet with their first title since 2014 and only their second since 1971.

Halfway home in the AFL GF, and it’s the Bulldogs in front, having absolutely swamped the Demons in the second quarter.

And the pendulum swings back in the direction of the Demons massive style, seven straight goals to lead the granny at three quarter time.

For the first time since 1964, and the 13th time overall, the Melbourne Demons are the champions of Australian Rules football.
Absolutely monstered the Western Bulldogs in the second half, with a 12-goal run that won the flag.

I know a few long suffering Melbourne supporters, extended family members and close friends, and I’m so happy for them. Let’s this be a lesson to stand by your team. I remember less then a decade ago this team was getting thrashed nearly every match and now they convincingly won the premiership..
Also the streak has been broken… the Clarkson Streak. Every premiership coach since 2013 has either been Alistair Clarkson or one of his former assistants (yeah ok Clarkson and Damien Hardwick take up six of those eight seasons, but still). Simon Goodwin is first coach since Sydney’s John Longmire to not have that connection.

I remember less then a decade ago this team was getting thrashed nearly every match and now they convincingly won the premiership.. They look very ominous, three finals won by an average margin of over 60 points. Very young group too with only one player in the grand final team over 30. Imagine what they could do in a packed MCG in September.

I had to go deep into the basement of page 2..
But better bring this thread back up, since the AFL season kicked off this weekend, and the NRL will starting soon too.
The AFLW are in into their finals, but their has been a delay cause the qualifying match between Brisbane and Collingwood due to a list shortage.
