Why does the goalie always have to wear a different outfit from the rest of the team? Now, I'm just an American who knows little about football/soccer, but why can't the goalie wear the same uniform as the rest of the team? As goalkeepers are the only players allowed to use their hands they need to be clearly distinguishable from the other players on the field (on both teams) so in a situation where there's a crowd around the ball (during corner kicks and free kicks close to goal) the referee doesn't mistakenly call an illegal handball.

Okay. That makes sense.

Hawthorn's alternate strip this season. It has been called in the football media the 'Power Ranger Strip'.

Hawthorn's alternate strip this season. It has been called in the football media the 'Power Ranger Strip'. Apart from the sponsors, I think that look f***ing awesome, put some sleeves on and I'd get a shirt of that.

As its my home team Newcastle United's yellow and cream away kit: The grimace on Steven Taylor's face only adds to it IMO Steven is planning to red card in the first 5 minutes so he won't feel embarrassed wearing that thing the entire game. And those Mexican goalies, yikes. Must have dug through Jorge Paez's Goodwill boxes for that mess.

I like that Newcastle kit.
I dipped my toast in it this morning for breakfast.

nothing is more hilariously bad than the New York Islanders' Captain Highliner Fishticks jerseys.
the only thing that was worse was the monstrosity that the St. Louis Blues almost wore as a 3rd jersey before Mike Keenan put his foot down.

I don't know, the NBA in the 90's had a terrible uniform fetish. You had the Rockets jerseys that had a cartoon rocket and looked like pajamas, there were the Hawks jerseys with the huge hawk on them, the Bucks with the huge buck on them, and the Raptors with a cartoon raptor dribbling a basketball.

Most any of the Oregon Ducks unis over the past few years. There was a time they looked like walking highlighters with those yellow uniforms. Those were bad but better than the drab all gray.

The Pistons teal unis were pretty bad too, in my opinion.

Really the mid 90s unis/logo changes sucked for the most part. It's amazing how some teams avoided it.
Also the NBA warmups of the 80s were awesome.
