I consider it a game but many others treat it as one, so I imagine poker discussion goes here.

Almost as much as Nascar. One of the most mentally and physically exhausting things is driving hours down on a highway. I can't imagine how exhausted racers must feel physically and mentally after competitive racing in a life or death situation for hours doing speeds of 300mph and above.

I've always considered it a game by the one simple line I draw between games and sports: If I can actively eat a meal during a play session, it's a game. Otherwise, it's a sport.

Used to play poker tournaments a lot at my local casino. Considering most of my fellow players were chain smoking, alcohol swilling, overweight old men who were coughing and spluttering all night, I simply can't class poker as a sport.

Poker goes in OT. NASCAR goes in Sports. M:TG in OT.
And even though it wasn't mentioned, video game esports go in OT.

A sport is a game that you have to change your shoes to play. Therefore, it's a game.

To me, something is a sport if there's a chance you can die while doing it.
Short of a hemophiliac poker player getting a papercut with a Jack of Hearts, I don't see it happening. Therefore, not a sport.

Anything that appears on ESPN is sport in my book. So poker, scrabble, miniature golf, spelling bees, talk shows...wait.

If poker is a sport, so is Monopoly.

I say no because there's no fantasy poker. Real sports have fantasy leagues dedicated to them.

If poker is a sport, so is Monopoly. Don't be dissing Monopoly and the physical ability it takes. Monopoly games can end in MMA style fights with no rules, and that's just the tame games, I'm pretty sure it's gotten so serious it's led to wars.

It's just as a much as a sport as a horseback racing, curling, golf, dressage, etc.
