I think what separates Tebow from the other college QBs mentioned is that he is non-threatening to women and men alike (in terms of his social status and sexual nature).

It's not just the playoff game, he was great in college. He won a Heisman, and was part of 2 National Champions, do that at a big time school, and that school's fans will follow you. It's like that with sports cards as well, guys from big time programs even if they flame out in the NFL or NBA, are always going to have people buying their stuff. If he were to change to fullback, he'd be on an NFL team in a heartbeat. For some reason he wants to stay at QB, despite the fact he can't throw, and at fullback he'd probably be a starter for a lot of teams. The question with Tebow is why is he so much more popular than say Matt Leinart. Josh Freeman who was a great college QB and a good starter for years in the NFL (Seriously Dolphins you think Logan Thomas is better?) may have just had his last chance and it seems no one cares but Tebow people seem to care a lot. I know he may just have the IT factor but out of college lots of people said Leinart had that to. Every year in the NFL once popular and promising College QB's get cut some this year even had as much or more NFL success than Tebow so how is it that Tebow is more popular than all of them. I can't think of another QB who almost made it being this popular. Leinart was a goober though. He looked to be someone who was going to be good based on his starts his rookie year, then he didn't give a f***, got hurt, got passed by Kurt Warner, Warner more than succeeded with the Cardinals, and Leinart continued to be more concerned with partying than playing football. It seemed like football wasn't a top 5 concern for Leinart, while he was on the same team as Kurt freaking Warner, a guy who busted his ass to get to where he was, and was actually concerned with football and how his team would do. Leinart came across as a douche, Tebow is known as a good guy. Tebow also a couple of years ago were in some commercials that aired during the Super Bowl where he laughed at himself for not having a contract. Freeman was at K-State, that program isn't on the level of Florida, USC, Oklahoma, Texas, Michigan, or any of the big time programs, so he didn't have the nationwide fanbase.

Give him a good team and he'll carry his weight. He might not be the thing that carries you over the hump but he won't kill your chances. Jets and Bills would kill to have Palmer level QB right now

I remember SC hosting a thirty minute event where they did nothing but talk about Tebow and clips of him. It was so much, you'd be tempted to cut off your ears during it.
It was Denver's defense that saved his hide that year, without them keeping it low scoring considering he averaged what, four completions a game, they would've been routed in every ballgame they had.

im not one of these people who thinks he is great and is being held back but i have a hard time believing he is not better than the random third QB on many teams he shouldn't be outta the league completly

Sorry if you can't make the Raiders you suck You are aware the raiders have a good young team and Carr is a pretty good young QB and Matt Mcgloin isn't terrible either. I think Ponder is terrible, but saying he sucks because he didn't make the raiders is just stupid

If you can't beat him for a backup job, you're a terrible QB.

I think the thing with Tebow is that all the media hoopla and his rabid fanbase work against him big-time. If he was truly a solid NFL-level QB, sure, I think you'd have more teams willing to take a chance on him. But when he's, at best, a third string QB on a good team or a second stringer on a bad team, coaches and organizations see the circus surrounding him as a disruptive distraction and not worth it.
Is he better than a Christian Ponder or a Colt McCoy? It's possible. But no one really gives a shit about a Christian Ponder or Colt McCoy, which is why they're perfect backup players.

Tebow was an awesome player in the college system, which allows for athletic players who can boom it down field and don't aways need to be super accurate.
His fanbase was boosted by his conference (SEC fans are always fiercely loyal) and his religion (there's always been a wierd us vs. hem nature from a lot of fans, despite the fact that the league is full of fine, upstanding citizens).
As for continuing to get press, that's all ESPN. They went to bat for the guy, they fueled a lot of the "Give Tebow credit for everything!" because ratings. In reality, Denver's defense and running game helped Tebow a lot, and Tebow acknolwedged that, but that wasn't good for ratings. And while he had some good games, he really isn't the type of player that thrives in the NFL, and there's really no reason to go to bat for a guy who isn't going to take your team further than they did the year before. Any team that's good enough to overcome Tebow's shortcomings has a player who's already better under center.
But there were a lot of fanastic college QB's who were NFL flops, hell, look at 4 of the last 5 QBs at Oklahoma. It's a different game and the NFL doesn't favor running QB's.

Not to mention that the worst NFL team is made up of the best players from college football. Yeah. The speed and strength of th egame is amped up. It's almost amazing to watch how dominant a player like Trent Richardson was in college only to see him fail in such spectacular fashion in the NFL.
