As the last Female Star really on the Lady's side she trying to do something that hasn't been done since 88. Trying to win all four grand slams in a single year. Last two matches haven't been easy for her. Do you think she can pull it off? Me I hope she does never did hate her

I don't see how winning all 4 grand slams in one calendar year is any more an achievement than simply winning 4 in a row. In that regard, she has done it twice already.
Still, she should be able to do it, considering there hasn't been a consistent challenger to her dominance this past year. On the other hand, as with any knock-out tournament, one loss and there goes the title.

Not got anything against Serena, she's without question the greatest female player I've seen in my lifetime and she, more than anyone else, probably deserves the Slam. On the other hand there just happen to be many other players on the circuit that I infinitely prefer. Hoping personally Lisicki can finally live up to the potential she's shown glimpses of over the past five years or so and finally win a major. If only to see her smile light up the entirety of Flushing Meadows.

How strange would it be if Venus beats her and ends her chance at the grand slam. Of course if Venus does not play well people will claim the fix is in.

idk how she is still doing so well. Tennis is a young person's game, and being over 30 is ancient in tennis years. how has there been no 18 year old something come in and dethrone her.

There's definitely been some kind of change in the sport over the past decade or so that has shifted dominance to older players. In the mens' singles tournament, the youngest player in the last 16 is 26. The highest ranked teenager is #33, and more than a few 30+ year olds inside the top 30.

I laugh watching these players trying to match power with her in baseline slugfests. None of them even think about varying their shots, going to the net, making her run around etc...They are so limited and rigid they deserve to get pummeled by her.

As dominant as she is unlikable.

Now she's split two sets with Venus, which should shield them from fix allegations should Serena end up winning the decider.

Great win over Venus. I think Serena is going to pull this off the last matches are the hardest though.

Really dislike her, arrogant to the extreme. Plus it's impossible to criticize her lest you risk being labelled as either racist, sexist or both.

Haven't heard of her being arrogant, but unfortunately the racism/sexism part is really prevalent in a lot of what goes against her, everything from the relative lack of endorsement deals (she certainly has some, but nowhere near what somebody at her level would typically get) to the loudest insults she hears at events, etc. She's a force of nature at this point, can't help but root for her to pull it off.

Amazing performance from Vinci. Great post-match interview too. She's full of character and personality.

The arrogant part reminds me of a few years ago when she lost a match because she tore into a line judge. So I can definitely see why people would find her arrogant. I personally don't think she is, she's just super focused when she's playing. Also, props to Vinci. Has to be one of the bigger upsets in tennis history.

Incredible tennis and guts from Vinci in the second and third set. Post-match interview made me a fan. I hope she goes all the way and picks up the Slam tomorrow. Nothing against Flavia but just can't help but root for Vinci after that interview.

and Elsewhere ESPN is crying They still cover sports, and not agenda-fueled witch hunts? Wow, guess I should tune in... *Sees SAS and Bayless* Nah, I'm good. Props to Serena even if she came up short, and in terms of personality/arrogance, she seems to be as likable an athlete can be for what she's accomplished. Nothing to put her in Decision-era LeBron or Shaq territory for certain.
