I'm a couple weeks past it but I'm still puzzled by Macho Man's promo the night after Halloween Havoc 99 he came out with George and shockingly it wasn't on Tony or Bobby's format Here's a few brief notes: He claims that Russo wants to put him to pasture in favor of new young talent. Claims Russo did that to Hogan & Flair but that was just fantasy. He's Legit. He's the best ever and will never quit. He then informed us that he is well hung. Then he paused and then said he wants to pass the torch to a young guy that will win all the title and break ratings records. I got mixed messages from this promo. And none of this is ever mentioned again. That was his last ever WCW appearance. If I recall correctly he was wearing the same sparkly red shirt and hat that he would later wear at the premier of Spider-man. I think they just let him go out there and shoot because whatever. I still wonder who he was talking about. I guess he wasn't talking about anyone in particular and just making a sort of prophecy? I don't know. He had a brief appearance in a battle royal on Thunder during the start of the Russo/Bischoff/New Blood/Millionaire's angle. According to Russo, Macho was going to "pass the torch" to himself and make a comeback.

I have now finished Mayhem 99 and the wcw world title tournament. What an incredibly stupid tournament I do not approve.I will say one thing positive about the show Kimberly vs David Flair was a classic.

I'm dead in the middle of the tournament now, literally watching "Tony Marinara" debuting during Rick Steiner vs. Disco Inferno.

That tourney was just all over the place. To be positive I will say that it had stories in pretty much every match but that meant run-ins sometimes multiple run-ins in every single match.

Sgt Slaughter takes the stunner like a champ, looks like his throat is crushed and neck broken all with the same bump.

On the Sep 8 1997 Raw, Goldust gets DQd for low blowing Owen like four or five times in a row as revenge for an undetected Owen low blow earlier in the match. Ten seconds later, Owen joins in on a Foundation beatdown of Goldust not even selling his nuts. Proper shit booking.

Holy damn, Hall and Nash really didn't give a f*** in 99, did they? Watching Nash's "Vince Impersonation" angle on the buildup to Mayhem, and...wow. They need to get Thunders on the Network so I can watch the entire episode of Thunder where Nash does commentary.

The nWo skit where they fake Sting falling to his death is extremely uncomfortable, with hindsight of course.

To go along with my watching nitro's from fall 99 I've been watching those thunders from my collection so about a month I watched that Nash thunder it was glorious and wcw was so bad at the time I'd have gladly kept Nash retired and doing commentary then what they did.

For the longest time Slaughter was my favorite stunner taker ahead of Kurt Angle,Rock and Linda McMahon.I just loved that at the point of impact Slaughter's body was a straight line.

Even by the standards of late 90's/early 00's stupid haircuts, Alex Wright's hair as Berlyn is f***ing stupid. Also, Oklahoma sucks. Also, I may or may not be watching Mayhem 99.

But there's like 14 or 15 matches in less than 3 hours on Mayhem That's makes it good right? Tony and Bobby thought it was the greatest thing ever.

Hey its not the bookers fault the matches couldn't go longer then 3 min. Thank God they had 7 standby matches.

The summerslam 2000 card was really thrown togother last minute I think a lot of plans changed. I think the originally rumored card had Rock vs Benoit in a cage, HHH vs Angle with Steph more than likely turning on Trips, and Undertaker vs Big Show.

Just from googling, maybe they were in Colorado? The Rockies use it sometimes. Only other notable thing in 2002 was it being used at the World Cup but I don't think that'd filter through to a wrestling audience.
