Apparently Blackjack Bradshaw thought that Owen Hart had some "real pretty lips" on an early 97 Raw episode. Not sure what to do with that information, but there it is.

You know, the more I see his face in close-ups, the more I think that Bart Gunn could pass as John Morrison's older brother.

A few notes from Survivor Series 1995. -I only knew of about half the women in the Women's Survivor Series Match but they were so much more talented then what the Divas division would turn into in the coming years. -During the Royals/Darkside match, The Darkside (minus taker) came out wearing Undertaker shirts, however Fatu also came out wearing a BSK beanie. I didn't think the B.S.K ever hard their own merch. Though something tells me it wasn't WWF made. -The Wildcard Survivor Series Match was a really great match. Everyone in it was awesome (even Yoko) all the face/heel match-ups were great I highly recommend it. -When Diesel knocked Bret from the apron through the announce table I think Hugo Savinovich was knocked out. He's laying on the ground for at least 5 minutes before finally getting back to the table. Odd that both WWF and WCW had Joshi tag team matches for their respective November 1995 pay per view offerings. Then after both shows they just went "well, that's that!"

Just watched World War 3 97 and the ridiculousness of Nash dressing as Sting. Sting has never stepped over the top rope in his life and suddenly has long brown hair instead of black. Commentators are told to act completely oblivious. Ludicrous.

During the 2004 Rumble, JR reminded me that Setanta Sports (UK channel) was a thing.

They hype the debut of the skyscrapers all show then when the bell rings what do they focus on? Norman The Lunatic with a ballon taped to his head running around ringside and then Teddy Long chasing him around ringside. These 89 wcw saturday nights they sure love multiple things happening at ringside during the matches that they focus on instead of the match.

In 1996, DDP was OVER. Good GAWD (pun intended). Even though he was a heel, that crowd always POPPED for the Cutter.

Doe anyone know why the Legion of Doom rocked singlet tops sometimes during their early-97 WWF return? I'm watching some Raws from that time, and this is the first time I've ever seen these outfits.

Jerry Lawler mentions/references Great Balls of Fire during a Test vs. Gangrel Hardcore Title match on the January 27, 2000 episode of SmackDown.

In late 1997, they were trying like hell to get Meng's death grip over. Doesn't sound like it worked.
Also, Hogan's Voodoo Child dubbed knockoff is the best dub theme on the Network.

On the episode of Monday Night Raw in which Shawn Michaels announces that he will be the special guest referee for the Hitman vs Undertaker match for the WWF Title in front of a partisan crowd in Halifax, Nova Scotia. HBK gets booed out of the building as he is being announced. Which is par for the course for someone who has a lot of heel heat with a crowd. But they start booing him when all Vince McMahon gets out of his mouth is "the most charismatic...." Which teaches me one of two things:
1. These fans were so tuned into the product that they knew it was Shawn Michaels from that alone.
2. They really don't like charismatic people.

Watching Canadian Stampede, a Canadian country group called Farmer's Daughter sings the Canadian national anthem right before the ten man tag match main event. I assume that they played O, Canada before the show started (as every WWF show I ever attended played the Star Spangled Banner at the top of the show). I assume this was done before the show went on the air. So Farmer's Daughter's performance must have been for the benefit of those watching at home to set the stage for the United States vs Canada match. Which certainly worked. If it was the second time O, Canada played that night, it certainly didn't diminish the crowd's enthusiasm as they were psyched as the song came to its conclusion.
The British Bulldog got a massive pop as he came out. Probably bigger than Owen's pop, but not as big as Bret's. That said, Owen got a massive pop as he first tagged into the match and when he returned from the back after Stone Cold "injured" his knee. I understand that Davey Boy is married into the Hart family, was a favorite in Stampede Wrestling (plus, according to Heath McCoy's book on Stampede the Diana-Davey Boy wedding was treated by the local press as a smaller version of the Royal wedding). But still, I was not expecting that enthusiastic of a response.
I don't know why, but seeing a huge banner that says "family values" made me laugh. I understand the context. Bret Hart alleged that Canadians have better family values than Americans because we cheered an antihero like Steve Austin and one time Playgirl centerfold Shawn Michaels. I understand that as I was watching at the time. But still, a giant banner at a wrestling show saying "family values" with twenty years detached from that time is funny to me.
During the main event, Jim Ross alludes to Paul Jay's film crew following Bret around. Kinda funny in retrospect as they would later document the Montreal Screwjob and end up on the receiving end of litigation by the WWF to bury the film.

I just re-watched Tough Enough Seasons 2 and 3 and man, I re-learned how much I liked Hawk. It's a shame he didn't stick with wrestling.
I miss old school Tough Enough...

I find Paul Bearer telling Undertaker to "Zip it, Lazarus!" at King of The Ring 97 way funnier than I should.

Why is it that every time Jim Neidhart's in the ring in 1997, Jim Ross does everything short of reading us his college transcripts in order to give us his background?

I thought they did a decent job with it, at least during the feud with Benoit, how he caught Benoit out of the flying headbutt with the Tongan Death grip and beat him.

Watching these summer of 89 wcw saturday nights their sponsored by A&W root beer each week they run an ad for a 900 number where they pick a random wrestler and they show him doing a move and they ask you if that's the A&W root beer slam of the week press 1 for yes or press 2 for no.They charge 50 cents for this. I'm curious as to how many people do this. The biggest rip is the Sunday Live Events on the hotline-they literally call a match as you listen, and imagine those matches that went a half hour or so
