With the advent of our new sports forum, this will be the first time we'll have a discussion thread for a specific game (outside of the Super Bowl, I suppose). Like with the live wrestling show threads, keep the discussion of this particular game and its buildup to this thread. Other threads will be created every week for the early Sunday games collectively, the NBC Sunday night game (which is Giants v Cowboys this week), and the ESPN Monday night game (which is a double header this week with Eagles v Falcons followed by Vikings v 49ers), as well as other special instances (Thanksgiving). The existing NFL thread will be changed to a general news and notes thread post haste.
So, with that in mind, keep it clean, keep it fun and enjoy the game.

Finally the NFL can bury it's offseason problems a good first game between the two squeaky clean stars of Ben Roethlisberger and Tom Brady.
With that out of the way... can't this game end in a tie so both teams lose?

Finally the NFL can bury it's offseason problems a good first game between the two squeaky clean stars of Ben Roethlisberger and Tom Brady. With that out of the way... can't this game end in a tie so both teams lose? What Ben Roethlisberger and Tom Brady are accused of are night and day. Tom Brady was accused of being generally aware that it was more probable than not that Patriots staff underinflated footballs. Ben Roethlisberger was twice accused of sexual assault. Meanwhile, I cannot wait for this game tonight, if only because I am so amped up for the pre-game pomp and circumstance. It's going to be seven months worth of frustration and anger over false accusations, deception, and misinformation boiling over in what should be one of the most raucous home crowds in Patriots history. While part of me wants the Patriots to take the high road and be like, "Whatever, that bulls**t has come and gone, here's our championship banner, we'll be going to get another one in February," a much larger part of me wants the celebration to be Robert Kraft, Tom Brady, and Bill Belichick standing at the 50-yard-line with middle fingers extended (of course with the Super Bowl XLIX championship ring on their fingers), while fireworks shoot off into the night sky, the banner is unveiled, and a resurrected Tupac performs a 40-minute concert of his most devastating diss tracks.

They did reiterate today that Tom Brady did in fact have a child out of wedlock too... Seperating him from the majority of the league

They may not like each other, but Patriots and Steelers fans (as well as Saints fans) agree on one thing: Goodell must go.
That's likely why he's not appearing in this year's Kickoff Game.

I'd like to think all NFL fans are unanimous on that and have been for a few years now. As for why Roger Goodell is not appearing at tonight's Kickoff Game, it's because he's a punk-ass coward who can't handle when 68,000 fans boo so loud their vocal chords end up on the field. At least when David Stern was megalomaniacal, he stood there and took the heat that came with it. Goodell goes and hides in Santa Clara.

Hopefully we can at least still get a rousing "f*** you, Goodell" chant going tonight.

I'll say Brady throws for 3 TD, 1 INT, about 400 yards and makes at least two taunts about his balls' pressure.

Already heard some great news. The Patriots have finally gotten rid of that stupid 16-0 banner.

Apparently it has rained in Foxboro today and will continue to do so tonight. I've got the Patriots scoring in the sloppy conditions more than Ron Jeremy.

Great ceremony other than T-Pain doing his best to be relevant again and failing.

"Ohhhh SHY can you see..." wut? I realize the light's are on bright and all that but, how hard is it to sing the national anthem? Everyone and their mother knows it and knows how to sing it if they've ever been to a sporting event. I don't get how and why people mess it up like that.

I am seriously sick of Gillette using that foghorn when the opponent goes to 3rd down.
