With the new season starting on Wednesday I thought this could be a fun topic.
I could see that episode about recently deceased celebs from I want to say 2009 being really confusing for a first time viewer.

After seeing the old Jared episode last week, it's much more funny now for all the wrong reasons.

Butters Very Own Episode where they associated the Ramseys with O.J. Simpson and Gary Condit. To this day, I don't think Matt or Trey ever publicly released a public apology to the Ramsey family but they certainly should.

Season 3 seems to be the earliest I can bear to watch the show. 1 & 2 are very primitive animation wise, and that (more than voices) is the tough part for me. Everything past (and including) the movie stills holds up great.

I seem to be in the very small minority that still loves the 1st seasons.
Granted the animation has not aged well, but I still like them in their own little charming way.

All of the episodes that Matt and Trey threw on air (almost literally) while they were rushing to get the movie out pretty much sucked and they both have admitted it.

I kind of feel like the John Edwards one continues to be my favorite episode of the show in its current form, of being less about the kids in any meaningful way and just being a soapbox. I feel like they made their point, as opposed to some episodes where it was a clumsy or half-assed effort. Everything they said about cold reading is probably going to continue to be true going forward, and Penn and Teller have said that it made a cold reading episode of Bullshit better than they could have.

I think the soapbox episodes have become a mixed bag over time; some of the messages still resonate really strongly (agreed on the John Edwards one), while others have either lost relevance or were upended by future findings and whatnot.
To be fair to the guys, they completely hung a lampshade on that fact a few years back when they had Terrance and Philip lose their gig because their show "stopped being funny and got way too preachy and up its own ass".

I tend to like it more when the episode are focused on the kids doing kid stuff, rather than the whole 'skewering' celebs and political stuff. I think those ones tend to hold up pretty badly. But that's just me.

The Great Expectations episode. Kudos to them for going away from the format but it just didn't really work.

The Garrison trans episode.
What happened with the Ramsay's?

The early ones still hold up comedy wise. Plus it's nice to see characters who don't appear much anymore. The Great Expectations episode. Kudos to them for going away from the format but it just didn't really work. That was bad back when it first aired anyway.

I have not kept up with this show in years, with the 2005 season being the last time I actually followed it. If I were to say about some episodes that don't age well, it would be hard to say. I could say that some from the first few seasons seem dated now. I remember the one about the man who was frozen was placed in a room with stuff that came out in 1996 and had Ace of Base playing in the background. That seems dated now.
Although this episode was from 2009, I still think the wrestling episode was done a little too late. Not to mention the use of Edge and Cena seemed like the creators were behind the times as that was a 2006 feud (Yes, I am aware that they feuded after that as well, but their big feud was in 2006), and those "Get The 'F' Out" signs make it seem like they were behind the times, too.

The Garrison trans episode. What happened with the Ramsay's? Yeah, everything involving Mrs. Garrison looks so bad now. It wasn't even really funny at the time, just shocking. Now it just seems stupid.

Hell you got the Long Island Medium doing that shit now so it holds up even if John Edwards isn't in the public eye. There was a LIM stand for her f***ing book "You can't make this stuff up" at the supermarket I work at a bit ago. Took all my self control to not take a shit on it in public. A literal shit. Also f*** that title because you are and she will be going to hell for that
