Has anyone dealt with the downside to this? When your team is doing well, and especially if it's over an extended period of time, of course fans of other teams want to see your guys go down, it's natural to root for underdogs. When you're on the other side, sometimes you get that urge to puff out your chest in response, but doesn't it get frustrating for anyone else now and then?
Like I'm a Cardinals fan, we dominate the NL Central. Tons of Cards fans are uber cocky and they talk crap, and I'm sure a lot of Cubs fans are chomping at the bit to knock them off their pedestal. But it sucks being a fan of an "evil empire", I'm not at all comfortable with so much of the rest of America rooting against my hometown team. I'm aware the fanbase's posturing doesn't help matters, but you know what? I don't care, as a rule I never poke fun at fans of other teams personally.
Yankee and Patriot fans, how do you deal with it? I don't know if I have thin skin or not, but I can't keep going "screw the haters" forever.

Ever since the Kings became serious contenders, seemingly every hockey fan on the internet hates us. I'll let the Young Bucks provide my thoughts on their feelings:

Been a fan of the Spurs since the Cadilac Anderson days, and while there were some lean years, most of the seasons I have seen I saw they have made the playoffs.
Here is a question, is it harder to be a fan of a team that is constantly on the cusp of winning the big game, like 90's Spurs or Warren Moon era Houston Oilers, or teams that are usually on the bottom of the barrel that pull a rabbit out of the hat, like Tampa Bay.

I used to watch the Patriots when they'd win 1 or 2 games a season with atrocious offenses. You'd hold out hope they'd play a good team so the game would actually be televised just to see them croak 24-3.
So I'll enjoy the bitter hatred now, because it's always fleeting

As a huge Pats fan, I now completely get it. I fully understand how Yankees fans felt in the late 90's/early 2000's. I also realize how obnoxious, petty and sad I was as a pre 2004 Sox fan.

In all seriousness, it seems that more people have come around on the Spurs and have started to respect how great they are. Whereas before, people would whine about wanting a different team in the semifinals/finals.
Even though people might like the Lakers, Mavs or any other team, they tend to at least respect the Spurs. I think that's pretty awesome.

Blackhawks fan here.
Don't really care in the slightest, it feels good seeing your hometown team come from the lowest of points to the highest in such a time that they did.

The closest thing my team has been a dynasty of within the last decade is winning 1st overall picks. 4 in the past 6 seasons. Beats the days of winning the cup 5 times in 7 seasons.

Closest I have to that is being a Devils fan and living through the mid-90s through mid/late 00s. On the one hand, you'll gladly just troll face people and say "u mad, bro?" about it, but on the other it was always weird with the Devils, since people kept trying to argue that the Devils (and not, say, Gary Bettman and the owners) were "killing the league" by playing defensive hockey and winning (Spurs fans, you relate?), and local fanbases would try to play the "Rangers have more fans, brah!" card even though the Rangers are an afterthought in this media market...sadly, most hockey here is.
The bad parts are people doing dances to try and prove a ridiculous point because their team can't match your team's success ("Lundqvist is a better goalie than Brodeur ever was!"...sure, pal), and home fans getting complacent when your team makes it to the first round of the playoffs. This happened to Braves fans in Atlanta and nearly happened to Devils fans a couple of times - it was such a given that they'd qualify for the postseason that tickets for home games in the opening round wouldn't sell very quickly, since everybody was holding off and waiting for the next rounds. I'd hate to see the day one of my favorite team's playoff games, opening round or not, didn't sell out.
With the Giants, it's also different; yeah, 2 Super Bowl titles in less than 10 years, but good God, do they ever suck in the interim.
And I've clearly never had that problem with the Mets; they were dominant when I was a baby, and have had a couple of good runs in my lifetime but nothing beyond 3-4 years at a time. I'm hoping the young pitching they have now means they'll be contenders for a good, long time now.

The Sioux Falls Storm. Winner of 9 Indoor Football National Championships, from 2005-2008, and now 2011-2015. We've been in the Championship Game of the league we were in 11 of the past 12 years (NIFL: 2004, UIF: 2005-2008, IFL: 2010-2015). We are probably the most dominant team in Indoor/Arena Football history. And people HATE us. We either cheat, or overpay our players, or some other excuse. Other teams' fans make us out to be the Evil Empire of Indoor Football..... {Spoiler} And I relish it.....

I'm a 49ers fan. I'm a little too young to remember most of the Montana years, but I was there for the end of him, and for the Steve Young era. I guess people got tired of my sulking any time we lost to the Packers in the NFC Championship when their teams were lucky to make the playoffs. Karma will likely come to collect on us this year.
I'm also an Oakland A's fan. We're either a dynasty or we suck. Most people are pretty cool to us, knowing what we have to deal with in terms of affording players, and moreso if we have to educate them about our ownership and stadium issues.
As for my Warriors fandom, it depends if we keep churning out championships, or if this was a one-off.
Sharks still have to win their first. I'll let you know how that turns out. Predicting hostility mostly from Canadian and Original Six fans when a non-traditional market takes the Cup.

I've been a fan of the Colts for a long time, but it is not as though they have been that dominant (unless you are the Texans visiting Indy, that is), but it does not suck that the last two seasons that they were not good led to drafting franchise-changing QBs.

Know what? After this recent NL Central title for the Cards and the injuries they fought through, I'm like "f*** 'em". It's not important what other fans think.

I am a huge Cardinals fan myself and I could careless what others say, this is a team who never had a monster payroll to go out a buy every big talent free agent. I mean look at this team right now, Very few people on this roster didn't come through the Cardinals system. The core players of this team we had in our system. We win a lot but we are not like how the Yankees where when it comes on how they won titles by getting every big name free agent with monster contracts. People hated them for doing THAT but it's not cheating because no salary cap and they have the money.
The Cubs hate the fact the Cards win and they never make it to post season for so long.
The reason why NE Patriots get so much hate is well they have so many black clouds hanging over there heads about cheating. The fact every time they get a punishment handed to them somehow it gets overruled. You have to question that stuff.
Fans I guess find it cool to hate the teams that wins so much when it not there team. When they do it a lot it's becomes more heated.

The biggest "dynasty" I've supported belonged to Arena Football's Tampa Bay Storm (not to be confused with the team in Sioux Falls). From 1991 to 2003, the Storm won an AFL record five championships. They didn't miss the playoffs for 15 years. And that dominance earned both a measure of respect and a lot of disdain from rival fans. A lot of fans around the league couldn't stand the Storm because they were the one team that seemed to stand in their path to a championship. But the Storm have cultivated a very devoted fanbase in the Tampa area. They led the AFL in attendance in 2015, despite having been very mediocre since 2010. There's something to be said for that, especially in Tampa, where sports fans catch a lot of flack for alleged non-support.
I also grew up an Atlanta Braves fan during their streak of 14 division titles. But unlike Storm fans in the mid-2000s, Braves fans got too complacent. The playoffs were such a given that some people didn't even pay attention to the Division Series. However, if the Braves were that good again, they would fill up Turner Field every day and every night. I know some people who took it for granted years ago, but now would practically sell their first-born children to relive those days. So enjoy it while it lasts.
On the flip side, I cheered for the Tampa Bay (then) Devil Rays when they were MLB's biggest joke. So I know what it's like to be a part of both extremes.
