I was hoping for Kenneth Branagh again. I really liked the first Thor and I really liked its Shakespearian feel to it. Looking back, Thor might be one of the most underrated films in the series. It really doesn't play well as a straight up superhero movie, but as a drama it was superb. The cinematography and the music in particular were in a league all their own. Honestly, as long as Elba, Hiddleston, and Skarsgaard come back, I'm straight. Also, I'll admit, I have a soft spot for Dennings' Darcy Lewis. Portman can kick rocks, though. Hope they're not sandy rocks, cause I hear her boyfriend hates sand :-)

Thor 2's director Alan Taylor also had his problems with Marvel as well - "The Marvel experience was particularly wrenching because I was sort of given absolute freedom while we were shooting, and then in post it turned into a different movie. So, that is something I hope never to repeat and don't wish upon anybody else." I remember him making a huge stink about the stinger that James Gunn directed to the point of claiming it practically ruined his movie, only to look like a complete idiot a year later when Guardians of the Galaxy became one of Marvel's biggest critical and commercial hits.

Didn't Natalie Portman not want to even come back for Thor: The Dark World but Marvel pretty much forced her to and held her to her contract? Hugo Weaving said the same about not wanting to come back as Red Skull too and that they'd have to force him if they wanted him back. Hugo Weaving has gone on record saying he's done with sci-fi, fantasy, and comic book movies, and wants to concentrate on smaller projects and theatre work. Natalie Portman didn't want to come back for Thor 2 as she planned to take a hiatus from acting to raise her son. Marvel eventually convinced her to come back on the agreement that they would allow her friend Patty Jenkins to direct. Once Portman agreed to it and it was too late to back out, Marvel fired Jenkins for "creative differences". Anthony Hopkins also didn't want to return for the sequel, especially after Kenneth Branagh was replaced, so it remains to be seen if he'll be back to tie up the loose end with Loki posing as Odin or not. Thor 2's director Alan Taylor also had his problems with Marvel as well - "The Marvel experience was particularly wrenching because I was sort of given absolute freedom while we were shooting, and then in post it turned into a different movie. So, that is something I hope never to repeat and don't wish upon anybody else." These Thor movies have been difficult productions, it seems. A lot of them have contracts that say they will be back, even if they dont want to. As for Taylor's comments, I can understand his frustrations, but when you play with someone else's toys, that's the way it works. Like a comic that gets edited, the films have the same process.

A lot of them have contracts that say they will be back, even if they dont want to. A line gets drawn somewhere though, since they recast War Machine and Hulk due to problems with the original actors. Forcing someone to stick to a contract and likely getting a half-assed performance isn't in Marvel's best interest when they can just as easily recast the role or drop the character.

I would love to see Hugo back as Red Skull someday though but if he's not up for it it's not like they can't put the make up on someone else.

Black Widow wasn't a prominent part of Winter Soldier?

Now that you've said it, I really wish that had happened. That would have been fantastic. Red Skull has gone to ridiculous lengths to f*** with Cap and that twist would be right in line with something the Skull would do.

The guy who cut off his nose to look like Red Skull is available I'm sure. He's intentionally making himself look like a mass murdering Nazi? Can we just arrest this guy on principle?
