I know some may see this as sour grapes still over yesterday. But this has been something that I have wondered for a long time. With sometimes leagues admitting that a mistake was made in the game, I have always found it puzzling that even when they do, normally the officials who miss those calls are never penalized, yet players and coaches are constantly penalized if they say anything against the ref. Considering refs aren't paid as well as players and coaches are, I sometimes wonder if the idea of an extra pay day for calling the game one way has ever even be considered (hell, we even had a ref in the NBA be busted for gambling and he did so even on games that he called). So I think if the league comes out and admits that a bad call was made, the officials who botched it should be held just as accountable with a fine or suspension. What do you think?

After seeing the Chase Utley play and hearing the umps making him safe, I am now more concerned than ever these umps are fixing games.

I believe officials are punished for bad calls but it isn't really publicized. I know the NFL fines officials for poor performance and will only give playoff games to the better refs.

I believe officials are punished for bad calls but it isn't really publicized. I know the NFL fines officials for poor performance and will only give playoff games to the better refs. Then I believe it needs to be made public. Especially in leagues like the NBA and MLB, where it seems the league will make public that it is fining a player or coach for criticizing the refs, but not the refs in question.
