So how big is high school football in Texas these days?
Is it like it was in the glory days where entire towns shut down to go to games anymore? etc.

Tonight was homecoming for the high school in my area, we've got about 3,500 people in the area (it serves 2 cities and a lot of rural area) and I'd say there is 400-500 at the game. Team sucks this year (losing 53-7 last I saw) which does take a toll on it. Around here the bigger schools get a better attendance percentage I'd say, well, unless the team is doing great or has a star player/college recruit on it. Homecoming will always be major. Town was painted blue and there were pep rallies, planned bon fires (canceled due to wildfire danger) and all that level 3 bullshit.

Its still big. Just the majority of 6A schools are suburban schools so they do not have the shut down feeling at the top level. That said, alot of small towns still shut down, just not at the top level aka the level you ehar about. I mean South Lake is basically a NAIA/DIII level team and stadium. www.texasfootball.com/rankings/class-6a/That shows you how many levels to Texas High School Football there are.

Being that one football team built a 60 Million Dollar stadium that even though was built wrong, looked like a college stadium is most places.

Permian Panthers ranked at 19th. They've done really well this year.
