San Antonio has a very special place in the heart of “Almighty” Christopher Daniels and “The Heavy Metal Rebel” Frankie Kazarian. It was at the Shrine Auditorium that the duo captured the Ring of Honor World Tag Team championships. After months of terrorizing the ROH roster in red masks, Chris Sabin helped The Addiction defeat reDRagon after heavy interference, soon revealing that the trio had returned to Ring of Honor to take over.

But, then, something strange happened. At All-Star Extravaganza, a man in a red mask cost The Addiction the ROH World Tag Team championships. After months of another masked man haunting ROH, this man revealed himself to Sabin and the world in Nashville as Alex Shelley!

Shelley would find success in singles competition while the trio of Daniels, Kazarian, and Sabin struggled to find solid footing. In fighting and talks of conspiracy were bandied about. Everyone thought they were crazy until Sabin joined Shelley and reunited the Machine Guns at 14th Anniversary!

The Addiction are hot and they want the Machine Guns in two on two action! The two teams couldn’t keep away from eachother in Philadelphia in a three-way match involving the Young Bucks and the Addiction ambushed the Guns following their Supercard of Honor Night 1 bout with the Bucks. Now, with both teams in the thick of the deepest tag team division in the world, title aspirations are out the window: for the first time since the Guns reunited, they will take on the Addiction in what can only described as a MUST-SEE, GRUDGE MATCH!

Brooklyn, NY (April 11th, 2016) – Ring of Honor Wrestling (“ROH”) will return to Brooklyn, New York on Saturday, August 27th, 2016 to present FIELD OF HONOR ’16 at MCU Park in Brooklyn, NY.

The event will feature championship bouts, top ranked wrestlers and the distinctive next generation wrestling that makes ROH the world’s most innovative brand of pro wrestling in the world. Scheduled to appear: ROH World Champion Jay Lethal, World Tag Team Champions War Machine, The Briscoes, "Mr ROH" Roderick Strong, reDRagon, The Addiction, The Young Bucks, Motor City Machine Guns and more.

The Ring of Honor-New Japan Global Wars tour is already proving to be a huge success.

ROH announced today that the tour's New York City date on Friday 5/14 at Terminal 5 has sold out.

The 5/8 Global Wars PPV in Chicago Ridge, IL has under 100 tickets left as well.

There are tickets left for the Monday 5/9 event in Dearborn, Michigan and the Wednesday 5/11 event in Toronto.

With Naito now IWGP Champ a really cool yet not massive main event they should run with for one of the lesser ROH/NJPW shows in May should be Naito and Lethal (since they've shown alignment at previous co-promoted events) vs. their respective upcoming challengers. For example Naito/Lethal vs. Okada/O'Reilly (since, thankfully, the dreaded Naito/Ishii match will have aired by then) would be a really sweet match. Just seems to build itself and would be a pretty special main event for one of the lesser shows (i.e. Not Global Wars).

Yeah, sometimes on Sunday afternoons. It's not EVERY Sunday, just usually when they have a timeslot gap due to sports, I guess.

THE COLT CABANA CHRONICLES PART TWO: LIFE AFTER ROH



Colt Cabana shocked the wrestling world at ROH’sSupercard of Honor X events in Dallas recently when he confronted and then competed against ROH World Champion Jay Lethal. It was the first time Cabana, once an ROH stalwart, had appeared in an ROH ring in nearly five years. This is the second installment of a three-part series looking at Cabana’s unique and distinguished career.

After leaving ROH in the summer of 2011, Colt Cabana not only continued to make an impact in the pro wrestling business, but he also thrived in the Colt Cabana business.

Fully embracing his status as an independent contractor, Cabana blazed a trail by creating and marketing his brand without the benefit of having a major wrestling company behind him.

Cabana raised his profile through podcasting, social media, live comedy touring and working on numerous web comedy sketches. 

First and foremost, however, Cabana is a wrestler. Having been an ROH mainstay for nearly a decade, Cabana became one of the most sought-after competitors on the independent and international wrestling scene.

As he did during his time in ROH, Cabana entertained fans by incorporating humor into his matches, but he also demonstrated that he can mat-wrestle and brawl with the best of them.

Thanks to his versatile in-ring skills, Cabana was able to adapt to any style of wrestling and found success wherever he went. He got himself into great shape and won several regional championships, including titles in England, Scotland and Chile.

Throughout 2012, Cabana and Adam Pearce engaged in a fierce rivalry over the NWA Title. Their best-of-seven series climaxed with Cabana winning the deciding match inside a steel cage in Melbourne, Australia.

Also that year, Cabana teamed with former ROH World Champion Eddie Edwards in Pro Wrestling Noah’s Global Tag League tournament. The team of Cabana and Chris Hero, BIG IN THE USA participated in the tournament in 2014 and again in 2015, where they received the Outstanding Performance Award..

Outside the ring, Cabana generated a buzz with his Art of Wrestling podcast. 

These days it seems like everyone in the wrestling industry has a podcast, but Cabana’s was one of the first and is among the most successful.

He has done nearly 300 podcasts, and his guests have included the likes of CM Punk, Steve Austin, Bryan Danielson, Tyler Black, Roddy Piper, Bruno Sammartino and Mick Foley. The controversial Punk episode in 2014 has been listened to more than 3 million times.

Cabana also branched out in the entertainment world by doing standup comedy. He has performed at the famed Second City venue in Chicago, as well as at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, which takes place in Scotland and is the world’s largest arts festival.

In addition, Cabana has appeared on comedian Marc Maron’s show, Maron, on IFC, and collaborated with comedian Marty DeRosa on several projects, including a web series titled Worst Promo Ever.

As Cabana’s popularity grew, so did the demand for his merchandise. Cabana DVD’s, t-shirts, hats, photos, posters, keychains, headbands and buttons are all available for purchase on coltcabana.com. 

As he has done with every aspect of his career since becoming a free agent, Cabana took a do-it-yourself approach to selling his merchandise. He continues to package and ship every order himself and will autograph any item for no extra charge.

“I’m my own everything," Cabana said in an interview with fastcompany.com last year. “Agent, manager, booker, promoter, everything. I rush home from a tour of Japan to sit and fulfill orders. I've built this thing all up myself … and I feel like I'm earning every single dollar I make."
