"The Hooffields And McColts"...gets a 5/10.
The pros:
-Fluttershy was nicely portrayed this episode. Her timidness and connection with the animals were one of the few highlights of this episode. Also loved the book club she had at the beginning.
-Liked the third party they introduced with the animals, giving the story a nice touch.
-The episode did not have any real...cringeworthy moments.
The cons:
-Twilight Sparkle...normally I love my little bookworm, but in this case her OCD came off rather annoying than adorkable to me. Her adorkableness is nice in small doses but here it ran its course too long.
-The Hooffields and McColts had ugly designs and were not that interesting characters. Ma Hooffield and Pa McColt were not entertaining and the origin of the conflict could have had a little more meat to it.
-Just a very pedestrian story with not many interesting twists and turns.
So...yeah, a 5/10 from me.

I gave it a 6. I wouldn't say it was BAD. Just really unremarkable. I expected better especially since this was supposed to be a "plot" episode and it came off like anime filler instead. Fluttershy being on point was really the only saving grace of the episode. She was great. And for a princess, Twilight Sparkle has become pretty ineffective and doesn't seem to have her station respected at all. She needs to assert herself more.
Not nearly as bad as last week's, but that's an extremely low bar to surpass. This is one of the worst stretches of the show I can remember, though. Hope next week's is better.

Yeah, also hoping that "The Mane Attraction" will be a good lead-in to the Season 5 finale.

Hmm, average ep, but I always get a kick out of excited Twi.
Nice to see her bust out the Everypony Freeze spell again, plus her loudspeaker voice spell was cool to me.

Twilight seems to have a better grip on herself compared to previous years, since she didn't break down crying when her scientific approach did not work.

I couldn't help but notice one of the female characters on team 2 (suck at names ) had Big Macintoshes base. Just seemed a bit weird to me that's all.

I still preferred it when Twilight didn't have wings.

I'm going with a 7. It was as annoying and rednecky as I was afraid it was going to be (since the Hatfields and McCoys is pretty much the story of that anyway), but there were some good gags.

Aggression? That was merely a suggestion.
Not all my comments are ruthless aggression.

Quick re watch
Yeah I like this episode.
It's not perfect, it probably won't be in my To 10 of season 5.
But I still find the good out ways the bad.
Shy and Sparkle are a good duo.
I agree the main 2 leaders of each group aren't that interesting thought did like some of the designs of other characters.
But it was still a fun ep.
I'm going to stick with my 7 as I felt it could have been better.
Maybe last weeks episode made this one more tolerable, either way.

Twilight is finally chosen by the map, I wish they would have been more bigger build up to this, since she has been trolled by the map so many times.
I think Fluttershy was more needed, she can communicate with the animals, you just needed someone else to speak up for her, and it could have been any of the other Mane 6, well at least Applejack or Rainbow Dash they would have filled that role.
This episode is way better than LPS "Feud For Thought" or A:TLA " The Great Divide" so much credit there.
I am glad we are not at war and Twilight was an important General, because she feel for the Trojan trick, that is the oldest trick in the book, come on Twilight you are smarter than that.
Well if it is no the big city ponies in Manehattan or these country folk in this one, no one respects Twilight's title of Princess of Friendship, she is a princess, treat her with more respect, would they have the nerve to do that to Celestia, or Luna, I date them to throw food at Luna, last time she felt respected, she tried to turn the world into darkness, Twilight you need to make them respect your authority, show off your powers, the ponies that respect her the most are the young ponies of Ponyville.
Anyway it was an okay episode, of the three map episodes not counting the premiere, I don't know if it is the weakest, I know "The Lost Treasure of Griffon Stone" is the strongest one, only question which is better this episode or "Made In Manehattan".
Can't wait for the finale, one more episode left before that.

so... why was Twilight there again? Just to get in the door and trigger the final big fight?
Overall, it wasn't anything special, a mostly forgetabble episode. The last one had some gags that I thought were funny, this one didn't really have too much. I think fluttershy's tellign of the origins of the fued could have been batter, but I didn't expect too much anyways.
