Which sport do you think would be the most popular world wide?
I'd say it'd be between soccer, basketball and baseball and I'd put my vote behind basketball.

I still think it would be soccer.
Mainly because it's pretty much the only sport than you can legitimately play with no equipment. I have clear memories of filling up a plastic bottle with stones and kicking it around the playground with my friends using jumpers for goalposts when we didn't have a ball.
Kids in all areas/countries can be brought up playing it and loving it with pretty much no expense. Even with basketball there needs to be a ball and a hoop to start with.
Also, I know this is an unpopular opinion but as a bit of a sports nut who will watch anything from soccer to baseball to cricket to golf, the one major sport I've never been able to enjoy is basketball. Soccer gets a bad rep for not enough happening, but basketball is just the opposite for me. There's simply too much scoring for anything to really hit some and seem important until the last few minutes.

If memory was wiped and everything?
Boxing or some other type of combat sport.

Team sport would easily be soccer. Easy to pick up and you really only needs something to kick that won't break your foot.
Individual sport I'd say wrestling. Not complicated and fills the need to be the best through physical domination.

Football (soccer) by a country mile.

American football and hockey would be lambasted as barbaric and too violent.
Baseball and soccer would be determined to be too slow, deliberate, and low-scoring for today's attention span.
I think basketball would probably win out, because it's a simple sport to get the hang of but at the same time it's fast-paced, high-scoring, flashy, and frenetic, and as we've seen over the past 20 years, it's a sport that can easily capture the world's attention.

Auto racing. Racing has always been popular from chariots to hot rods.

Running, obviously.
With basketball, you talk about fast-paced, high-frenzied action...take away the shot clock and you get the return of Dean Smith's four-corner stall.

Soccer. It's a simple game that only needs a ball and anything to mark out a goal.

Since it just said "the sport" would be wiped and not introduced...
...Daily Fantasy Challenges, and/or whichever sport allied with Fantasy leagues first. (Really, fantasy has become the primary pastime above anything else, so it seems to make sense.)
