It's not even that they keep getting everything wrong with Roman, but that Baron Corbin of all people is doing his character better than him now. Corbin should ask for a vest like Roman's to cover up that bellybutton.

Honestly, I'd like Reigns if he wasn't so stupidly overbooked. Heroes need to show vulnerability and lose sometimes. The Rebel Alliance lost battles to The Empire, Luke lost and barely escaped from Vader, Gondor lost battles to Mordor, Buffy got her ass beat by every big bad before eventually winning, Spider-man always gets his ass kicked, Batman got destroyed by Bane etc. It's classic storytelling and builds sympathy for the hero so the fans want to support them and see them win.
Other than bad promos, there's nothing wrong with Reigns. But WWE booking means that I just can't get into the guy. He's boring and predictable (Reigns wins, LOL) and WWE are so blatant with him been the chosen one and f*** us if we don't buy it. If he was booked like Ambrose; strong but not invincible then people would like him.
The show should have ended with Reigns been destroyed and looking vulnerable. The heels would have got heat, the crowd would want to see Reigns get revenge and Reigns would actually look human and not an invincible demi-god.

People have hated on Corbin but the dude has improved to the point I think he's better than Reigns in the ring. At the very least he has a friggen believable character of "I don't give a shit, I'll kill you if you cross me" and doesn't come off like a smug goober like Reigns right now.

There was no upside for Roman here.

This is the same company that thought the best way to build up anticipation for the Taker/Kane vs. 2 Wyatts was to have the former completely obliterate all four members of the opposing team scarcely 2 weeks before their match. Vince doesn't like faces showing weakness. It's probably the only aphrodisiac that works for him these days.

If he was booked like Ambrose; strong but not invincible then people would like him. But therein lies a wrinkle... Because Ambrose (or basically any other successful babyface, like Bryan or Cesaro) ISN'T being booked exactly as strong as Reigns (or Cena), it gives off the impression of disinterest or even outright hatred of that person by the company. It's how we've ended up in a situation where Neville, a guy who has had more TV wins this year than anyone on the roster except for Reigns and Ryback, is basically perceived as career enhancement talent because he takes just as many losses.

Plus, the live crowd would've gotten a happy ending anyway with the dark segment if they're worried about bumming them out.

if he was left laying, people would have complained he's being booked like Bryan. can't win. Easy solution. Have Sheamus and Roman hit their finishers on each other at the same time and they're both left laid out.

It really sets the tone of "He can over come any odds, unless there is something on the line" it actually makes him look like a huge goober. He is the opposite of clutch.

if he was left laying, people would have complained he's being booked like Bryan. can't win. You take a three on one beatdown, and you can get sympathy. You lose straight up while the announcers make fun of you, you lose credibility. You can win, because the formula of "let the heels get heat" has always, and will always, work out in the end. Sure, maybe you know the "final destination" but damn it, if he's a world beating, nothing hurts me badass Terminator, and everyone else is a bunch of candy-ass weaklings, then why should I invest? Superman against Lex Luthor, fine, I buy it. But if every super villain is made to look like a cross between The Black Knight and Helen God Damn Keller, why should I or anyone else care when the big badass babyface wins? He's supposed to win, there is no threat, and thus no reason to buy a ticket.

A) anytime you introduce a straw man argument and end it with, "no matter what they do they can't win with wrestling fans." You're basically saying "I don't an actual point so here's a hypothetical that will probably never happen instead of an actually discussing what's happening."
B) Reigns has never been able to pull of sympathy. When ever he makes the "I need some support from the crowd cause I'm really hurtin' here" face - he looks like a frickin muppet. He was great as the heavy for the shield because he never had to make that face or try to illicit sympathy. He's also the "biggest baddest toughest alpha male ever" which makes for a GREAT heel that has a mouthpiece. Why they turned Rollins (the smallest dude in the group) instead of Roman who could be a legit heel threat to both Rollins and Ambrose, I'll never know.

And for that matter this is the company that decided, "Okay, we need to make Miz and R-Truth look like big enough threats they need the combined might of the Rock and John Cena to beat them. Have Cena beat them in a handicap match two weeks before the show! Wait, what, it did a shitty buyrate?! Blame the Miz!"

I think this Roman Reigns Superman push is all a false flag operation to make people actually cheer for John Cena.

WWE likes to keep played out FAN memes alive. Sunday night, people here complained about WWE making Roman look human by selling selling emotion about being disappointed and sadden post match. Last night, they made him look vulnerable against Sheamus and Rusev but beastly when his adrenaline was kicking in. But it doesn't matter anyways. Folks going to be not satisfied with Roman's booking even if they went back to the quiet but violent bad ass he was in the Shield.

What credible dudes? Sheamus' most recent achievement before getting the title was getting his ass kicked by Jey Uso and Kalisto, and Barrett is so low on the totem pole that for a while people were almost constantly expecting him to get fired. Rusev is the only one out of those three who's been somewhat protected, and it's not like he ate a finisher and started crying - a pissed-off face beat the crap out of him with a chair.
